sherberttcat
I ask, because it's been years since any of the emulators for it were updated. That's a shame too, because some of the games I really wanna try out for the system aren't properly emulated, and I really don't feel like spending that kind of money on a system just for a handful of games I wanna try. Shamus
Virtual Jaguar is not dead, it's been slow in development because of a lack of free time. If VJ was dead, there would be a big announcement on the website saying "VIRTUAL JAGUAR IS DEAD".
+Sauron
Virtual Jaguar is still being worked on and updated: http://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/ While the official releases have certainly been slow, there are periodic updates that aren't quite official yet, but mostly work fine. You can find several of the most recent updates here: http://virtualjaguar.kicks-ass.net/builds/ Jag emulation still has a long way to go, but there is certainly active development on it, and it's improved quite a bit over the last few years.

Keatah
Seems like it. Haven't heard of any new developments recently.
+Sauron
Seems like it. Haven't heard of any new developments recently. Probably because you're too busy posting pointless curmudgeonly threads in the Off-Topic section of the forums. Read my post above.
+save2600
"curmudgeonly"... This is one case where you wouldn't always want "perfect" emulation... little speed up here or a little slowdown there and you may just end up improving some of these games!
Keatah
After some deep thought - the the Jaguar simply isn't worthy of emulation.

Albert
After consultation with my colleagues, all Jaguar emulation must be deleted. You know, if you're not really interested in a topic and just want to crap on it, you could move along to another that's more up your alley. ..Al
Keatah
Everyone here knows I'm interested in everything emulation. And as the console people love to hate, jag hasn't gained popularity nor much emulator support. And that's unfortunate because there are indeed a couple of games I'm interested in. But whatever. The Jag isn't a simple architecture to emulate, hence why emulator support has been slow. However, if you would read my post above instead of constantly complaining, you would see that the situation is improving.
Keatah
Yes I can see that now. Now that I'm back a "proper" not-mobile desktop sorry for the rudeness. It happens the best of us. Do you believe the jag architecture to be more difficult than the n64? It seems that once MIPS and/or multi-processors came on the scene - that's when emulation gets thorny. Oh sure mame does multi-processors, but they're so much simpler like 8 and 16 bitters. Edited January 11, 2017 by Keatah
+Sauron
Considering the multi-processor architecture of the Jag, I'd have to say yes.

All those fiddly co-processors complicated everything! On the flip side, you had the PS1, with it's simpler architecture, which was very well emulated while it was still being sold in retail. I feel like if a system has a popular final fantasy it will be emulated quickly .
