Nintendo’s Boss Promises the Switch Won’t Have the NES Classic’s Supply Iss

I'm sure it is priced high to protect the 3DS XL which is $200. Still plenty of life in that platform (at least for another year), and at $250, the Switch would hurt 3DS sales.

Neither the N64 or Gamecube recovered from their respective launch title droughts. Unfortunately I can see the Switch suffering the same fate. Especially since Nintendo is initially showing that they still don't understand the online gaming scene (a one month free rental NES/SNES game for online subscribers?).

Well we got the new Zelda coming out... but yeah even the Saturn had a better launch, same with Dreamcast and PlayStation 1 if you ask me.

Agreed. I would have been cool with even a digital free game.

Well, I suppose you could try to distort reality a little bit and count the monthly free nes/snes rental as a free digital game that comes with the system - given that nintendo's online ecosystem will be free for the first 6 months.

In reality this is launching pretty much the same as the Wii U did - just with the cost of the packin game removed (About 50 dollars). That's still a little better than the Wii U launch either way for 2 reasons.

1. You at least get to choose which launch title you'll pick up with the system - or none at all if the freebie will be good enough until more games launch.

2. Nobody will be able to claim they were confused over if the Switch was suppose to be a new system or an upgrade to the Wii U.
