DavidMil Posted January 19, 2017 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I ordered a video cable for my 800 that has s-video out and left and right audio output. MAN, what a difference that made! I had to do some color and brightness adjustments on the Samsung flat panel TV, but you talk about a sharpness and brighter color difference. It's really amazing! I played several old games, including Defender and Montezuma Revenge, and there were colors I don't think I've ever noticed before! Best $12 investment I've made for my computer since I bought a 1050 drive. I didn't buy one from this post, but I did buy one of those last year and really like it a lot. What sets this one apart from most all of the other offerings is the inclusion of the 'standard' 4-pin Mini-Din S-Video plug. This makes connecting it to a more modern TV that supports S-Video a snap. Having the S-Video signals on individual RCA plugs like many of the other cables, although nice for old school monitors like the 1702, just doesn't fly with the newer TV's that came out later sporting the Mini-Din jack. This is the best Atari 8-bit monitor/audio cable I've run across. To add to the 4 pin mini din (s-video) comment, now there are many S-video to HDMI converters out there for under $30. +MrFish Posted January 23, 2017 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) If you're like me and you have a lot of old video and audio cables saved up over the years -- from purchases of video and audio equipment and laptops, etc. -- you can make these quite easily yourself. The only cable that most people probably won't have on hand is the 5-pin din. In my case, I had used some midi devices over the years and didn't need the cables anymore. These use 5-pin dins that work perfect for the job. I don't know how plentiful they are these days, but I imagine Ebay has them, since there were so many midi devices that used them over the years (and still are?). So in my case, the cost was zero. Yeah I just popped back into this thread and went ahead and ordered one haha. I love my PVM, my 1702's and my 1802 but using a modern display just sounds so much better haha.
