I wrote this tweet in the vein hope of getting Playmaji's attention, but moreover to try to warn the NESMaker Team of being wary of their collaboration with them. I have been mainly looking at the Polymega twitter since I know they've been doing regular updates there, but I didn't know that this was the only platform they were still providing anything resembling updates on. I decided to check their Facebook page to see what their posting history is like, and they have not updated since late September when they announced that they're extending their preorder campaign another month. That's nearly six months ago now.

I decided to see why this was, and sure enough, Facebook was being more savage than we ever could be. All of the most liked comments on each post was them demanding to see the Polymega play discs, to see it opened up so we can see that it exists as they currently claim, telling them that we don't need another overpriced emulation box on the market (a sentiment we can all agree with), and people giving their reasons why they decided to not preorder (most of which was their interview calling FPGA consoles "snobby").

The reason Polymega decided to leave behind the biggest, most popular social media platform behind was because their page was turning into an oven and they were getting roasted with each update. Yeah, that doesn't make you look petty or shady at all, no sirree, Bob.

If anyone from The New 8-bit Heroes/NESMaker Team is on this forum, please heed this warning: break off your collaboration with Playmaji and change the grand prize of your contest to a product that already exists and is on the market. Even if these people are on the up-and-up, which we have more than enough reasons to doubt by this point, they are a PR dumpster fire that will seemingly abandon their social media pages when they take the slightest amount of heat. They choose silence over actually showing what progress they've supposedly made, and they will make up any lame ass, bullshit excuse to save their own skin when enough people call them out. Don't think for a moment that they won't throw you under the bus if they are ever in a position to do so, especially if it means satiating their customers' fears and criticisms for another couple of weeks. Your own project has already proven to be successful on Kickstarter and actually exists; the last thing you need is to risk deligitimizing all of that with the grand prize of your contest being a product that looks more and more like scammy vaporware by the day.

Oooh! This could be fun. We did this pretty successfully for the Coleco Chameleon, so now let's play "Guess The Excuse".

1. Going off your sentence above : "The Polymega was completely done and ready to ship, but because of our commitment to the contest, we had to delay shipping in order to include the contest winner's game in the firmware." They could milk this for months. with follow-ups like:

1A. "The software license for games created with NESMaker is incompatible for use with our emulator technology, so we'll have to remove those games from the firmware. This will require creating a whole new firmware and reflashing all the existing boards- which we swear are totally finished and in the loading dock for shipping. This will require we open all the boxes up individually and manually refash. This will take months because we don't have the manpower to do this and because we spent all the money we had (but totally spent it only on development- not vacations in Cancun or Fyre Festival 2 or anything like that) we can't hire additional help."

1B) "After reflashing all the boards, we don't have any money to pay for shipping. We'll have to raise the money. So please buy our new product, the PolySuper64. It's like the PolyMega, but is strictly for cartridges. It contains an morphic adaptive connector slot that will fit any cartridge ever made up to the N64. Pre-order now and the unit will ship on February 31st, 2020."

I see what you did there, haha.

More than likely they will continue to dodge backer's questions and hide from any semblance of accountability until folks get fed up and forget about it.

I think most have forgotten about it already. This whole campaign has been a complete disaster.

Now to watch this whole thing unfold

Oh, bashing the competition. That's such a good look. Stay classy, homeboy.

It's fun, because FPGA was their answer to all of life's problems right up until it wasn't. I'm sure this is linked in the thread, but just a refresher for everyone since it's 18 months old or so:

Just because I'm blocked doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching them shit the bed.

A picture of a Samsung 970EVO SSD, what? Now it's a $2000 computer, I guess? Anyway, the responses are gold.

Are we supposed to be impressed that this thing's alleged motherboard has an NVME slot? Seems like a waste/overkill for a machine that is meant to play pre-DVD era games. It'll be sad if they justify the thing being late because of this "upgrade" in performance. I almost hope they try to pass off the motherboard from some existing product as their own. It would be fun to have another crowd-sourced fraud-busting event like the Coleco Chameleon prototypes. Pat and Ian could get another podcast out of it.

I can almost guarantee you the intended takeaway for this is supposed to be "ZOMG THEY'Z GONNA GIVE US A 2TB SSD!!!!" And we'll all forget about the fact that the software that gets stored on that drive is a bullet point list that is 100% unproven. This is Mike Kennedy saying "Powerful ARM processor"

Just for context, here's the beginning of this conversation. That is a $500 part. HUGE balls on them for making yet another announcement of an announcement (has anyone ever appreciated that?) and for trying to dump on Analogue, who has delivered 3 excellent products with another on the way, while "Polymega" has delivered precisely bupkis with a side of gornisht.

I feel like a doorstop has a much longer shelf life than 2032.

I can't believe they are channeling Kennedy's "You'll be able to pull this out of the closet in 30 years and it will still work thanks to our soon-to-be patented cartridge insertion technology".

Yeah, I linked that in my post, but didn't screen cap it. It's a ridiculous swerve and I'm glad that the community of Twitter isn't letting them get away with it.

Well looks like a new party's started without me! I was @'ed by a couple people on Twitter about this attempt from PolymegaHQ to throw shade on Analogue, and it's both hilarious and pitiful. Want to play hardball, Playmaji? Okay, assholes, let's play hardball.

Out of a handful of responses I made today, and this is the one I'm posting here. Bryan Bernal is all talk. I guess that comes with the territory of being a con artist. When push comes to shove, you want to make up excuses and blame the world around you instead of hunkering down and just trying to get your product out and let it speak for yourself.

You and your hypocrisy sicken me, Mr. Bernal. Kindly unf### yourself, and then go f### yourself.
