Thanks...still can't get the controller set up to work with Kat5200 though. I don't know what the problem is, but it's pretty much a regular thing with this emulator. Any weird setup gives me endless problems.

I did discover there is a brand new update to kat5200. It can be found here: http://kat5200.jillybunch.com/

Having trouble getting it to run though...don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it says it's not a valid win32 program.

EDIT: The author of Kat5200 has now added a version that works with Widows XP. Apparently the other one needed Windows 7 or higher although he had originally thought it would run on XP.

The controller configuration on Kat5200 for this game still has me baffled. Despite seeing the "controller" section of the manual and trying to map the up, down, left, right movements both ways mentioned and on both my PC joystick and keyboard, I can get no movement from the frog whatsoever.

Soooo...as has been the case with some games in the past...is the Atari 8-bit computer version of this game allowed?

Don't forget that you need to press the button when you move in the 5200 versions of the Frogger games.

Right, I configured one of the buttons on my joystick for that. But still nothing. Is anyone else using Kat5200 for this game and had success configuring it? I've got the author of the emulator looking into it to see if there is a problem with the emulator itself. As I said before, I've had ongoing problems configuring my joystick with this emulator. If it's something simple like Pac-Man where you only move up, down, right and left, no problem...But as soon as you throw other buttons like the 2, 4, 6, 8 configuration to move the frog it seems to choke. Thanks!

Joystick problem on Kat5200 finally solved with the help of the author. I did not know the * key toggled between joystick and keypad mode in Frogger 2 so although I was actually configuring my joystick correctly, it was in the wrong mode. I now have it working with my PC's joypad's up = 2, right = 6, down = 8 and 4 = left ... no other keys to press...just using the D-Pad like any other game.

Sorry, but no. The button+stick combination control is unique to the 5200 program, so using the A8 or the "no button" hack would be an unfair advantage. :) I had considered allowing it, but decided against it.

I never really spent much time with Frogger II.. lol, I just finally figured out how to get to the sky!

But anyways, figured this would be a good chance for me to get acclimated with the game!

I'm starting to get the feel for this game...

I'm really happy to have returned to the 5200 HSC after a hiatus of several years.. I never spent much time with Frogger II since I had gotten it a few years ago, didn't really get it, but now having something to play for really motivated me to play this game!

Here's my score for tonight..

Levels 1 and 2 are fairly easy in this game, but Level 3 is really hard! I kept at it until I finally got it completed.

Here's a tip: the timer doesn't reset when you lose a frog for a reason other than the timer running out. So all too often, you'll die, then lose your next life because you ran out of time. To avoid this, I recommend leaving those three berths on the first river screen empty while you work on the second river and sky screens. That way, if you lose a life while trying for those harder-to-reach berths, you can then send a frog to one of the easier three berths quickly, thus resetting the timer.
