Intellivision II EXEC patching

Intvnut has a workaround with the Lto Flash multicart.

It would be tough to replace the exec rom chip. The original exec was on two chips each with a different pin layout. The intellivisiin ii exec is on one chip.

Edit: The Intellivision II exec chip might work in an original Intellivision; if you want the feature of making those cartridges incompatible.

Has anyone tried to patch the EXEC ROM in an Intellivision II to address the compatibility issues? I've searched but I couldn't find any attempts. I get most folks wouldn't bother desoldering a 40 pin chip to fix a few (average?) games, but I thought someone would have tried it.

Wouldn't something like the "Game Genie" work as well? I mean a plugged-in dongle that would sit in between the console and the cartridge which would work around the copyright "bug" in the Intellivision II by intercepting calls to the EXEC.

I would imagine this to be a more appropriate solution than hacking the hardware itself. How doable would it be?
