Irgendwer
I just saw a documentary of the dig. Anybody able to identify the device on the left side (top down with the cable)?
Hyperboy
^^ Do you mean the keypad controller in the box? Sent from my non beer holding hand.

Irgendwer
^^ Do you mean the keypad controller in the box? No sure. Please note that the cable output is not centred like in your photo!?
Mclaneinc
Looks like an electrical extension block? To little of it to see...
Bryan
I'm only seeing a touchpad with a centered cable.
Keatah
Definitely not a centered cable. Could be a prototype or test or pre-production run (of the SR controller), it's right width. Also note the screw hole areas, the slope, and the indentations to the immediate left/right of the cable. Definitely offset.
Bryan
Are we looking at the same place? I see a touchpad next to a Star Raiders box which makes perfect sense. I see the bundled up cord next to it, and something that looks like a larger cord as well, but may just be a flattened part of the cord. Mclaneinc
With Bryan on this, http://atariage.com/forums/topic/252533-fs-atari-video-touch-pad-and-keyboard-controllers/?do=findComment&comment=3508995 Second pic seals the deal...
vitoco
I'm also with Bryan. I've put some color guides over his attachment to compare both pictures.
towmater
Well it seemingly is a touchpad, with a cord off-centered by some bull-dozer, and as those Antic podcasters' investigations have revealed, the landfill material consisted of store returns trucked in from an El Paso warehouse used to store returns from retailers, so it's not likely to be anything unique. It's nevertheless a pity. Think about all that useful DB-9 cables...
Kyle22
It's a pity when any Atari item gets destroyed.
