These cables adapt a Sony PSP power adapter to an Atari XL/XE machine with 7-pin din connector. The original Atari power sources are huge and waste a lot of electricity in the form of heat. Easily use a reliable and efficient Sony PSP power adapter instead! It will provide the same 5V AC that an Atari power brick provides and sufficient amps. I personally assemble and test each of these. Each utilizes a high quality metal connector to interface the Atari, not cheap plastic connectors from China. $12 shipped in the USA.

Thank you.  In addition to replacing the original Atari adapter, it is also able to work with the PSP-180u adapter, making it possible to power the Atari through a lighter socket.  Anyone wanting to bring old school 8-bit gaming to a tailgate party, RV, or on the go can now easily do so :)

Cool looking, but then why can't we make a USB to Atari 8-bit with the 5v requirement being the same. AmIright?

I would consider one of those if I didn't already have a switching PS hack I bought. Those are slick looking!

Thank you for the compliment on my adapter.  I considered USB but decided against it.  I just don't see the upside to it since USB ports don't typically supply enough power to meet the Atari's needs.  People would need to find higher powered hubs, and it would all get a bit confusing since most people think they can plug a USB cable into any port and things should work.  I think it's easier to stick to properly powered power bricks with small form factors.  The PSP power supply was the best option I found taking size and quality into account.

Amazing! I haven't used my PSP in about five years, so I'll at least be able to use the power supply for something. Will it work with Vita power supply as well?

It will. I should add that to the thread title.

I have five left and will look into the power requirements of the PAL systems.  I designed it with the American released unit in mind, but perhaps it can work for systems from other regions.

Will this work with any official PSP adapter?  I have a 3000, if that matters.

It should work.  I've never seen a PSP adapter below 1500mah, and that is sufficient to power the various Atari systems with the 7-pin connector.
