Omega-TI
A while back, there was an external power supply shown that eliminated the need for the old internal supply in the TI. This would enable the console to run cooler, make it lighter, thus more portable and would even free up some room in the console for future modifications. There was just one drawback... the power switch would not look or act like a 'stock' switch. What is needed is a new 3D printed internal support for a switch that will enable use of the external slider for that stock look.

If it's the one I have used then it will not fit in the TI console. The one i used is HERE Also I think the current TI power supply is just DC and the AC current is converted in the wall wart. The one I used has the converted and all on it. So the power switch must be a 110v.

I know I'm not the only one who would like to perform this modification, but I passed on it due to the lack of a support for a switch. Once a support is available and matched with a switch, I'll probably do this modification myself. Another thing that would be real nice is a step-by-step PDF file with directions, photos and links to the all the sourced parts.

I remember this one now. it just another transformer brick type. so it does the conversion just like the original would from AC to DC volts. If so then a standard slide switch could be used just like the original, but of course there would be a need of some way to mount in the same place and solder up the wires. Maybe use a perfboard you could cut to size and it would fit in the same exact spot as the original coffee mug warmer but only have the switch...

Yeah, that's the intention, and a modern one would probably last longer until failure (these things are getting old). Also, *IF* a new power supply has more amps behind it that would give more overhead for people wanting to power other stuff internally like Matt or Tursi''s keyboard adapters, a VGA to HDMI converter and of course Matt's 32K expansion or a NanoPEB, along with the speech synthesizer and whatever else comes down the pike. The one I linked in my first reply will do all that. It's just not in a case. You could put it in a cheap plastic project box with an IEC power connector so you could use a standard IEC power cable. Of course the slide power switch would have to be rated at the 120v. I konw they make them but the size might be an issue. would have to search and find out.
