KLund1 Posted March 5, 2017 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Ok, I got a SF-314 that is not working well. It is the 1/3 height big center version. It powers up and spins, disk go in and out ok. When the 520 starts up, the sf314 responds, but nothing loads. Eventually the desktop shows. With the drive open so I can see the head, It seems to be stuck on track 0 when the 520 is accessing it. When accused the head jumps about a 1.4" towards the center then back to it's original position. The disks I'm using work on other ST's, and another 314 I have. There is no model number of the drive mechanism. And I can't find a field service manual for this drive. In fact there seem to be little here in the forum about how to fix this drive.
