99er
I'm setting up a bartop arcade with MAME and several consoles installed, including the TI-99/4A. I'm using Retropie, and with the latest version, you can install TI99sim using the Retropie setup script (it's located under 'manage experimental packages'). I've never had any luck getting the built-in scraper to work so I'm using Stephen Selph's scraper (with thegamesdb.net as the database) to download game art, and it works for all of the systems except the TI. Googling around a bit, I see that there should be a TI99 folder with a file named gamelist.xml located at /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ and also at /home/pi/.emulationstation/gamelists/. Neither of those locations has a TI99 folder on my system. Has anyone else gotten this working, or do any of the Linux experts out there have any suggestions? Thanks, Rich Edited March 6, 2017 by 99er

Thanks, Rich I have not tried to get the TI99 Artwork on my retropie setup as of yet. The developer of TI99SIM is on here and his handle is 'ti99sim'. Maybe he will respond for some guidance. Omega-TI
While I'm not personally into Retropie, I'm really liking the concept of that wooden display there. I'm imagining a floor-sized variation with a slide out drawer that contains a TI-99/4A console with an F18A, FR99, a PnP 32K and speech. A modern flat screen TV and a rolling cover over the joystick and buttons similar to that of roll top desks or bread boxes. It would look like a piece of nice furniture, but truly be a "Stealth TI System". Hmmm... something more for my bucket list.
99er
Hmmm... something more for my bucket list. LOL While there are plenty of plans out there for these bartop cabinets, I cheated and bought a kit on eBay. I got mine a year or so ago and the price has gone up a little (but there are some new features, like a pre-cut slot for T molding), but the same seller is still offering them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Table-or-Bartop-Arcade-Cabinet-Machine-Cut-Flat-Pack-T-MOLDING-SLOT-/282234389227?hash=item41b67b02eb:g:BikAAOSw2s1Usa0J For anyone that's interested, I do have the arcade-style joystick and buttons to add to this, and they are working with the Retropie (including the TI99 emulation). To do it I followed the Adafruit instructions and used their software: https://learn.adafruit.com/retro-gaming-with-raspberry-pi/adding-controls-hardware
Omega-TI
^ Nice post! You know, if someone had a totally thrashed TI that still worked, they could put the guts into something like that, wire the buttons into the keyboard matrix and have something real cool. Hmmm....

99er
Haha, sorry Chris! Well, I posted about this on the Retropie site, and I was told that the TI is too obscure (!) to have been included. I posted a request in the issues forum to have the TI added. It seems that the author needs a CSV file with the cartridge sha1 hash, thegamesdb.net ID number, and title. I created the file for the cart images that I have, but that led me to realize that I'm missing a lot of carts in the ctg format. The ones that I have are the ones that are in the file in the GP2X archive on openhandhelds.org. Does anyone know of a utility to convert other cart formats into ctg other than the Linux utility that's included with TI99Sim? It will be a lot easier for me to convert carts using a Windows utility than having to do it in Linux. Rich

Rich Elsewhere in another thread on this forum, I've posted practically every educational cartridge in ctg format. That, plus the ctg dumps available on whtech (mostly games and some things like E/A and XB), should give you a nearly complete set.
