Scooter83
Just picked one of these cool little systems up. I had a demon attack cib which started me looking for a system. But what other carts were released for the ibm.pc jr. Ibm and imagic I hear are the main 2 companies but ebay kicks back nothing . Where is the best place to start asking around to find carts for my new little system?
Tempest
Imagic also released Microsurgeon which is really rare. Activision released River Raid and Pitfall II. IBM released Mouser, Scubaventure, Mine Shaft, Crossfire, Color Paint, and Lotus 123. Spinnaker released a few educational ones (Fraction Fever, Face Maker, and maybe another) and there is Easy Desk as well as some other utility carts.
Scooter83
From the looks of it any cart u find is gonna be difficult to come by. One of the few systems in really don't know where to even start looking since ebay is no help
The Usotsuki
IBM also released a GW-BASIC cartridge if that counts.
Tempest
IBM also released a GW-BASIC cartridge if that counts. Oh yeah, but that came with every system so I forgot about it. From the looks of it any cart u find is gonna be difficult to come by. One of the few systems in really don't know where to even start looking since ebay is no help The IBM ones aren't too hard to find, but most of the third party ones are. I'm still missing Microsurgeon myself. Ebay or the PCjr forum are your best bets.
krslam
Imagic also released Moonsweeper, and Spinnaker did Kindercomp. Amongst util/app carts not mentioned, I have Andrew Tobias' Managing Your Money, DOS2.1, and something called PCID - no idea what that one does.

Amongst util/app carts not mentioned, I have Andrew Tobias' Managing Your Money, DOS2.1, and something called PCID - no idea what that one does. Moonsweeper was never released, Kindercomp is the one I couldn't remember, thank you! I also forgot about Managing your Money, for some reason I was thinking that was on disk. PCID basically tricks programs into thinking your PCjr is an XT or AT by setting the ID number. It was useful for programs that looked for this number and refused to run unless it found what it was looking for. I've never seen DOS 2.1 on a cartridge before. Got pictures of that? krslam
Here's a pic of the DOS 2.1 cart. While digging it out, I also uncovered Demo-NFR versions of the Lotus carts. My notes say I have a copy of Moonsweeper but since I couldn't find it I'll accept that it's likely an error in my spreadsheet. The Andrew Tobias package includes both cart and disk.
Tempest
Weird! I've never seen that DOS cart. That's a new one for the books. It's possible you have an UR copy of Moonsweeper or a prototype or something. I've just never heard or seen it before and I've been looking into PCjr carts for a while now. Of course I didn't know about the DOS cart so anything is possible.
Scooter83
Looks like my work.is cut put and I'll start hitting up forums. Since your on this tempest is there a master list you have with how many carts you have known
Tempest
No I don't, but I believe we mentioned them all in the posts. However you can start here: http://www.brutman.com/PCjr/pcjr_software.html

IMG_1346.JPG Could you possibly dump that cart or take pictures of the insides? The guys over on the PCjr forum have never seen this before: http://www.brutman.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=617
krslam
How do I open one of these carts? There are no screws, just four small slots on the back. I'd hate to break a possibly one-of-a-kind item. I'm not set up to dump the cart, either.
Tempest
I'm guessing they're glued, but I'm not sure. The guys on the PCjr page can dump it for sure if you're willing to loan it out.
0078265317
Cool never heard of this system before. Not even too expensive. There is a brand new one on ebay 450. And a untedted one for less than 100.
Tempest
Cool never heard of this system before. Not even too expensive. There is a brand new one on ebay 450. And a untedted one for less than 100. The PCjr is interesting, but you need to do one or two things to make it more usable. First you need to do the 'Tandy Mod' which gives it full Tandy Graphics compatibility (not too hard from what I understand), then you need to get yourself a jrIDE card so you can have a full 720K of memory + hard drive and real time clock capabilities. The jrIDE card is cheap ($70 I think) and totally worth it. Once you do these things you'll have a nice little IBM XT system with some nice graphical capabilities (sub EGA, but better than CGA) and nice sound. Zonie
I always thought EGA graphics were pretty good...

A CIB Imagic or Activision game cart for the PCjr is extremely hard to come by in the first place. If you still have it, could you take photos please? i have only seen the Demon Attack CIB once in my life and that was at a museum and their copy was fairly sun faded and the box was damaged. The two Imagic game carts and two Activision game carts are basically the holy grail in PCjr collecting. When one does come up on Ebay they go for some decent money. A recent loose cart PCjr Demon Attack sold for $86.00.

Microsurgeon is the rarest as I've only even seen it once. The two Activision carts (Pitfall II and River Raid) are nearly impossible to find now, but several years ago someone found a case of each and was selling them on ebay for $20. That's where I got my two CIB. They look just like the Atari 8-bit boxes but say PCjr on them.

I would have loved to grab a few of those carts back when I was still collecting. We were discussing this over at the Vogons forums a while back. Microsurgeon is like a UFO sighting in the PCjr circles. I don't know anyone who has seen that mythical cart, until now of course. lol https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=50664 Edited March 23, 2017 by LiqMat
krslam
Since the OP didn't respond, here's a picture of my CIB Demon Attack. Box & tray are not perfect, but not too bad either. And while I had it out, I took a photo of the only other boxed 3-rd party pcjr game I own:

Guest LiqMat
That CIB Demon Attack is the best condition I've seen yet. I can take pictures of my Activision games if you want? That would be great. Considering these are almost impossible to find in the wild it would be great to see them for reference just in case. Thanks.

But honestly, they look just like the Atari 400/800 boxes just with PCjr on them.
