As some background, I grew up with a 99/4A in our house many many moons ago- my dad was a TIer in the Sherman, TX area. His name was Sam Moore Jr., so if you've seen some of the music demos, you've seen some of his work (Forest Roses, Time in a Bottle, Yesterday, Maple Leaf Rag, Ode to Puppytown, etc) For Valentine's Day my wife found a working TI-99/4A console in an antique store here in SW Missouri of all places. She knows I'm a sucker for the TI stuff, so picked it up for me; I still needed to get a power transformer and a video cable. Boy, did she not know what she was getting herself into! Over the last couple of months I've managed through some eBay luck to pick up some neat stuff (new in box joysticks, cassette program recorder, speech synthesizer and a handful of carts); I'm still looking around for a PEB (particularly interested in the 32k RAM expansion, disk controller, and 5 1/4" floppy drive) but those auctions get really expensive!. It's been really cool to mess with the computer again 'in the flesh' so to speak- I've used several really good emulators but it's just not the same. Anyhow- thank you for listening to my story. They appear on ebay from the developer which lives around the Austin TX area at 5 to 10 at a time. It does not use actual diskettes, but disk images and plugs directly into the 99/4A side port. I have a 5-pin (I think) to RCA connector cable that's just running to an el cheapo Wal-Mart 19" TV I'm very pleased with how the picture turned out. My TI is connected to the monitor, and then i have a TI Program Recorder connected via factory cable and a set of TI sticks attached to it (though I've been looking around for better sticks).
