Ohh no. I was thrilled to get chess on the VCS. Anything to make the console smarter. The fat lady next door had just got done teaching me the ins and outs of the game and I was anxious to use my newfound skill.

Cool. I had the exact same haircut.  Those were the days. Memories.

I think most of us did. And the boxes looked bigger and brighter and more colorful in those days, didn't they?

I did not think either of those two games were available in 1977.

I think you are right. It must have been a later Christmas.

lol says you.. I ASKED for Video Chess as a kid choosing from all the games in the Sears/JCPenny catalog. Loved that game. :) The only bad thing about it was the time it took for moves on the higher levels.

Re: Moon Patrol & Dig Dug, those came out in my mind much later than the time it looks like this pic was taken. Back then it felt like a different era. :)

Yeah, Video Pinball/Arcade Pinball wasn't out until at least 1981. Video Chess first made a catalog appearance in '79. Neat pic anyway, though!

I didn't realize Video Pinball was out that early...

That's totally awesome. I love the "bassetball" jammies, and I can guess what you look like today. Different hair, though!

Perhaps your basset hound basketball PJs are from 1977.

Quickly, to the Sears Catalog!!

Nice nostalgic picture! Very golden era!

Man if we had phones back in the day eh? Then again maybe its a good thing we didn't.

I would have been like a crazy dork and filmed rushing to the super market buying Secret Wars comics and playing Atari systems all the time. LOL

Good times.

I remember getting DigDug and Joust on Christmas day in ...'82 or '83?

God that was so bad ass. Spent Christmas vacation just playing those two with friends with RC cola bottles all over our bedroom. Slobs.

Cool picture, although I personally would have been bummed at getting video chess at that time. I believe we had Checkers and I played it like once. Who wants to play a board game when you can defend the planet from aliens!? Oh yeah Video Pinball was awesome, that's probably why you are smiling!  ;-)
