+SpiceWare
Evolution Complete It'll be nice to be able to play this again. A few years back I'd installed the Windows version on my Mac Pro via Wineskin, but it doesn't run anymore.
Tanooki
I know it's a longshot but I'd prefer if they did this with Warcraft II's total package, far more enjoyed that one, but I totally get it due to the worldwide audience and I hope they knock it out of the park. Late last year I found for like maybe $10 both the big box releases of the original SC1 and Broodwar campaigns, used the codes on blizzard's website to get the most up to date downloads off that. It's a nice one to have around. I never was great at it because they introduced a new way the AI behaves I can't keep up with at all after awhile as it just infinitely respawns wave after wave of cheap attacks before I can harvest up enough goods and build an acceptable army. Never had that issue with WC2 not that it was much easier.
Austin
This is good news. Starcraft is the only RTS I really got into, learned the strategies, played online regularly. It was good times. I always appreciated the visual and audio style in this game, it still holds its own today. I may pick this up.
Tanooki
I wonder more about this now, if they will adopt the final added campaign only N64 got which rounded out the series. You even had to have the EXP pack to get that campaign to run on N64 too.
Bakasama
I this reminds of all the hype for the 20th anniversary of Diablo. People were expecting a Remastered Diablo II and they got instead a Tristram event in Diablo 3 that comes once a year and Necromancer DLC. Needless to say a lot of fans were disappointed and went to play Path of Exile or some other ARPG. This looks nice but is a part of Starcraft II or a separate game? Austin
It is a standalone game.
Tanooki
I remember that I felt burned by it too, kind of haven't gone back to D3 in a long time. Instead since I wanted the old style, and as a middle finger to them too, I did the most logical thing. The original Blizzard crew who did the WC/Diablo series abandoned them and formed another company before D3 was started. They created the duo of titles called TORCHLIGHT (1 and 2.) They're truly fantastic fun games that really feel like a natural continuation of their work, just with a more cartoony less dark art style to it. I picked them both up off GoG and pounded them out night after night until I finished them and I would do it all over again as they're fantastic. +SpiceWare
This looks nice but is a part of Starcraft II or a separate game? A big part of StarCraft for me was the story they told, which began in the original StarCraft. It sets up the Terran/Protoss/Zerg conflict, tells how Sarah Kerrigan became the Queen of Blades, etc.
Austin
I re-watched the video blown up full-screen, and I have to say I dig the graphical upgrades. They look natural, as if that's how the objects and characters were originally modeled before they were scaled down for the lower resolution of the original game. I think this remaster is doing it right.

jce3000gt
I'm stoked. StarCraft remains my favorite PC game of all time. I would love to have it.
Tanooki
It looks nice completely nice but I'll pass on it. I have a love/hate feel with the game and already own the original. Despite me liking the general game and the story around it that plays out, the game also was the beginning of the end of me being able to like let alone tolerate RTS games. It did two things. One moved them into being multiplayer as the primary draw which is not too bad since the main game in SC2 didn't lack for it. But the damning one is that they ended up turning the games into a semi-mindless never ceasing scripted mess. The older stuff, dumber AI (or not?) you could approach any stage in multiple ways or play styles. Go slow, go hard and aggressive, build up, or just build up various things by style and kill the enemy. With SC it went into you must build at a set quick speed, you must only really concentrate on this or that, but not the other thing -- or you just get mass mobbed and wrecked, or it's a stalemate until you tire and quit or get hosed out of boredom. I never finished the game, honestly at least, I got fed up after a long period having paid for it and used cash codes so I could build fast enough to deal with it but never something as craven as invincibility or stage skip. Warcraft3 ended up emulating this style which put me off that franchise too, and to be me-too guys westwood/ea did it with the C&C world so I just hung it up outside of a rare thing like the WC1 clone Warlocked on GBC. I can still whip out WC1/2 or C&C or Dune2 and have a blast today as you're allowed creative freedom in play.

Bakasama
I meant to say the characters in the pre-mission screen look more like their SC II incarnations.
KeeperofLindblum
I picked up Starcraft for free on Battle.net, but this looks like quite an upgrade. I'd be willing to toss $15 to it for the even greater improvement! I only played a bit of Starcraft back in the day, and I was never great at RTS. I should probably give it another shot. Bakasama
I learned that bit of trivia playing Heroes of the Storm with Starcraft themed maps.
