The Init is worth considering but even numerous data only segments could cause excessive delay if the code isn't efficiently done.

I had that experience when doing a short menu based disk loader in the 80s.


At least today we have benefit of emulation debuggers where you could just create a worst-case scenario, like a whole bunch of single byte data segments then see how long it takes to process a record's worth of them.  Which for 512 byte blocks should = about 103 segments.
