+therealbountybob
Dollars from Heaven - 560 lv3! The game does get faster, I might be tempted to make a few changes - nice example of player missile graphics for anyone wanting to get started!

carlsson
Most likely I won't have any spare time to play Spare Change before the end of this round. I'm happy that I got to level 2 anyway, even if with the translator I might get even further.

See posts on 1st page - I'm on a 130XE graphics corrupt and player's speed/game speed does not increase as it should making it too hard - ok after booting with translator. Unless this an issue with this ATR - I've asked fandal to take a look if he has time

Unless this an issue with this ATR - I've asked fandal to take a look if he has time OK, I see all the comments now. None of that rings a bell for me -- but it's been some years since I've played. Have you tried using Farb's ATX? The reason I'm curious is because it's a game from 1983, when the XL's were already released. Most games requiring OS-A of OS-B are at least a little older. That's not to say it couldn't happen though; it's just got me curious.
+therealbountybob
I like to download to real disks on my 1050 using APE so only use the ATRs. 'll look and see if there are other copies out there, maybe this is a bad one. Ctrl-V to show the High Score Table will be a quick way of comparing them

Ctrl-V to show the High Score Table will be a quick way of comparing them I just verified, I was using the same copy as you are. It's probably long enough ago that I was using Atari800Win PLus 4.0. There are definitely instances where things are fine in A8WP and not in Altirra or real hardware. So, maybe a little less surprising that the issue may not have appeared for me back then. +therealbountybob
Dollars from Heaven 1,120 reached level 6, probably can get further by not jumping the nails to get the dollars and risk getting hit (by speeding achors) as there doesn't seem to be a penalty for missing them? Like I said a nice example of Player Missile Graphics and it plays pretty well. Money Bags 4,410 level 4 still not sure about their logic but this one is more challenging and better than it's atarimania rating!
+therealbountybob
Atarionline.pl have 2 copies of Spare Change, the first one is the same as Fandal's disk, the 2nd "Spare Change (1983)(Broderbund)(US)[a].atr" has a different high score table. More later when I've checked it out!
+slx
Spare Change is even better than I remembered it to be! Must have played this a lot as I (barely) made it to level 4 on my second try and 173.450 brought me to no. 3 on the high score table of the Fandal version linked in post 1. This must easily be one of the best Apple II ports for the Atari. Any ideas on whether this is a straight port or if it does use P/M graphics anywhere for enhancement? I tend to think it doesn't as I can't find any but 4 colours. Off to work now!
+therealbountybob
My copy stopped working (at end of "speedster" zerk show after level 1) perhaps after saving the high score last time I played. Fandal is hopefully disassembling right now [after downloading it again to a blank disk has the same issue - strange The 2nd atarionline.pl copy does not seem to be mountable using APE though it runs under emulation Reminder Round and Poll close tomorrow morning (Sunday) ! +therealbountybob
I'm now thinking Spare Change has a bug / intermittent problem, and it's not an OS issue. It seemed to lock (screen corruption) up on "The Speedster" animation at the end of level 1 - other times it has been ok. The other issue was it reaching level 2 and having corrupted screen lines and slower gameplay, perhaps this relates to a certain intermission too Hopefully Fandal can get to the bottom of this as we've found a nice game here. Thanks for playing and congratulations to Deteacher for the win The bonus games were ok for a quick go or two Final Tables Spare Change (we'll go for level x 1m plus score) 1st Deteacher 9,443,070 12pts 2nd therealbountybob 6,222,930 11pts 3rd JK40001 6,221,770 10pts 4th pussakat 5,229,780 9pts 5th slx 4,173,450 9pts 6th RedThunder 2,125,230 8pts 7th carlsson 2,106,490 7pts 8th McKong 2,105,460 6ptsMoney Hungry 1st Deteacher 1,062 7pts 2nd JK40001 824 6pts 3rd McKong 807 5pts 4th carlsson 773 4pts 5th therealbountybob 681 3pts 6th devwebcl 617 2pts 7th slx 346 1ptMoney Bags 1st McKong 5,220 6pts 2nd therealbountybob 4,410 5pts 3rd JK40001 3,010 4pts 4th Deteacher 2,010 3pts 5th carlsson 1,830 2pts 6th slx 1,570 1ptDollars from Heaven 1st JK40001 1,340 2pts 2nd therealbountybob 1,120 1pt 3rd carlsson 830 1pt 4th McKong 640 1pt 5th Deteacher 580 1pt Some additional bonus points Carlsson 2pts for typing up Dollars from Heaven Deteacher 1pt for the great info on Mountain King last round captainclassic 1pt for his Crisis Mountain guide last round Edited December 29, 2017 by therealbountybob updated!

McKong
Does this mean that it can be played on real hardware without the need for the translation utility? I didn't bother to play it again after you said that there were inconsistencies with the difficulty from level 2 onwards

I didn't bother to play it again after you said that there were inconsistencies with the difficulty from level 2 onwards Yes it's now fine on real hardware, but I've only played it a couple of goes I *think* that the problem was with the "Speedster" Zerk Show, I just thought it might be a translator issue and got lucky when I tried it as it's randomly picked. Possibly a corrupt image and this was not an issue on all copies out there. Initial problem spotted was screen corruption on level 2 (and gameplay was slow making it too hard) not sure if this was related but it seems ok now also. Pretty decent game especially for a 2 week HSC round, if anyone wants to post a late score or two then that is fine or you can wait until round 10's "Season catch-up and improve"
+slx
Made it past Level 4 and saw the show. 152980 L5 seemed to have some cosmetic issue right at the top, though I am not sure if it was the emulator. Zerks are really nasty on L5. How did anyone manage to get past that level? Altirra on PAL 400/800 with a Saitek gamepad.

Zerks are really nasty on L5. How did anyone manage to get past that level? Altirra on PAL 400/800 with a Saitek gamepad. Was that with the fandal fixed version (above)? From level 5 onwards I had to eek out a few at a time, repeatedly using the Zerk Show to keep them from getting 5. I did find that you can guard the bottom of your token box and they do go away and seem to follow some sort of routes. Make a lot of use of the amusements and sometimes start another just as one is ending. Always start the jukebox at the start of each set as there are a lot of tokens around
