AtticGamer
Does anyone think they'll change anything for the new releases? I doubt they'd retool for something like this, but cutting the data traces to circumvent tampering seems like something N might do. Two controllers and longer cables would be welcome.
derFunkenstein
Two controllers and longer cables would be welcome. If they did that, I'm sure the price would be raised to match the SNES Mini. And I think people would gladly pay it, too.
Atariboy
If Nintendo cared at all that .10% or less of these were being modded, we'd of seen the USB port on the SNES Classic Edition be power only. That it was still connected shows that they're probably not that concerned that a relatively small number of users are homebrewing these. So I'd be surprised to see this loophole closed, although I do wonder about the slightly longer controller cables and interpolation. I don't see much hope though for a 2nd controller out of the box in North America since European preorders are already up at the same MSRP as it launched with back in 2016, with only one controller included. Nintendo of America of course isn't bound to what the European arm does. Witness the AC USB power adapter that we get out of the box that Europe doesn't. But it does suggest that it probably isn't happening. Edited May 21, 2018 by Atariboy
Tanooki
I'd imagine anything they could do for free they'd do, anything adding any cost won't happen. Nintendo is typically the king of cheap. The fact they didn't button up the console re-using the boards for the SNES spells that out. They raised the price too when stuffing in the added controller plus the SNES games (on VC) cost a little more than NES did too. The only cost I could see them maybe do, would be to clear plastic wrap a bundle of the console and +1 controller in its original box into a package deal. Odds are they'll release more of the controllers this time around so it's possible to actually get one. That's the only thing that ever bothered me and I had to settle on a emio controller. I don't see them actually changing the hardware, although dummy traces for D+ and D- would be wise. What I do see happening is new game selections for reissues. They've already announced the Famicom Mini 2 in Japan with new games. For the US market, keep some old games and swap out others. I think the sweet spot is keep 20 old games, toss 10, and add 20 new games to the roster for a total of 40. Like ATGames with the revolving door of Atari classics. Atariboy
Nintendo has already announced the date of the rerelease, which is now just five weeks away. And preorders have already opened for Europe. No evidence that the game lineup is being modified in any way. Tanooki
I hope they just let it ride. Sure it would be nice but also a curse. We're in a space now where douchebags who can take time off or have minimal (or no) jobs can just poach up a lot of the stock to price fix the things higher unless you're at the right place (on/offline) at the right time. If they did the ATGames route with the rotation it's inevitable, but it would be cool to get some variety as well. It's why back when this was first a coming idea with the NES before it was solid info I hoped they'd do expansions for it like the old Neo Geo X did with the 5 addon game bundles. Pop up the slot, find a SD card (custom) slot, and you throw what you buy extra at it. That would have been fantastic, but Nintendo goes cheap almost always as much as possible without looking obviously cheap. They'll just pump these out again, perhaps yet again in another year too with a re-run of the SNES in time for yet another chunk of hardware (N64 or GB.) It's easy money, the old meme of It Prints Money fits.

+GoldLeader
I bought the EMIO pad for the SNES Classic, because they made a Brilliant NES Classic pad. But whereas the NES Classic pad was perfect IMO, the D-Pad sucked on the SNES pad. I only wish I'd bought the HORI instead! I have a lot of faith in the company, so I may yet get one later... Trinity
I like to use my mini like a modern lava lamp. Right now it's super metroid churning out it's dark tones. With the frame that changes colors to match the color of what is going on with the game.
derFunkenstein
I wanted one, but reviews of the d-pad have completely turned me off. I bought one last fall in spite of the D-Pad reviews, because I could return it for free to Amazon. But guess what: I returned it because of the D-Pad.

Andromeda Stardust
https://www.nintendo.co.jp/clvs/manuals/starfox2/html/USen/index.html Yeah it's been posted here before. Too bad it's not available as a PDF download. In other news, I saw about four or five SNES Classics yesterday while making my rounds at Best Buy. They are under the shelf with the Amiibo and Nintendo accessories, no cage and no security tags. So if anyone was unable to find them thus far, might be worth the trip.
Tanooki
Got a scribd account or care to sign up? Someone took that Nintendo website page by page and converted it into a PDF for download on Star Fox 2. https://www.scribd.com/document/365189170/manual-StarFox-2-pdf

derFunkenstein
The d-pad is really not that bad.Yes. Its not even bad. Its so unusable that calling it bad is understating it. You cannot reliably hit diagonals. At all. I couldnt play Street Fighter with a controller called Fighting Commander. But that Hyperkin adapter for regular original controllers is dynamite. Ive also got one and we use it for player 2. I have an 8BitDo SF30 for player 1. It does a great job. Not sure if theres an NES version but SNES controllers work fine when Im booted into the NES firmware. 0078265317
I don't play street fighter. But the dpad isgood for all the rest. Iam playing donkey kong right now. No problems. I also got the 8bitdo classic adapter and pair it with a wii mote and then a classic controller in the back. The classic is great also. Tanooki
Well if it's fine for non-diagonal type games that's ok, but it is strange that it's HORI shoveling garbage as that's not their rep, and two to call it a Fighting Commander when it's more like the AWOL Deserter of fighting controllers is pretty bad.
