Problems with saving emulator gms for Sega Genesis

I'm having problems saving games from Bill Walsh College Football 95 on emulator site "SSEGA.COM".

 

My problem is Bill Walsh's game has a battery backup built in the game so the game automatically saves the games on season mode. Saving the game "online" is not a problem, but whenever I try to load the game it freezes at the point where the game is trying to load from its battery backup. I'm thinking since it's an emulator, it can't find anything so the game freezes. I think every game that has a battery backup would encounter the same problem

 

Does anyone know how to save a game and work around this "auto save " feature?
