VicViper
Just finished an AV mod, was working fine for a few days, then suddenly next to no sound, or you can barely hear it when you turn the TV waaay up. havent opened it back up yet, i don't think its my work but could be wrong obviously. Is there a certain cap that affects the sound if it goes bad?
SignGuy81
you can take a look at the schematic this is for the 2600A but look at the other one if you have different board https://atariage.com/2600/archives/schematics/Schematic_2600A_High.html there is a 0.1uf cap before you tie into audio. I would double check solder joints. Have you tried on another TV, or have you tried another device on the same input of the TV to see if you have the same problem with sound on the same input? Is there a certain cap that affects the sound if it goes bad? A semi-common fail item would be the 2 820pf 50v audio caps: https://console5.com/store/820pf-50v-polystyrene-film-capacitor.html If you're unfamiliar with their location, they are the only caps that physically look silver/transparent and they are side-by-side. You can't miss them, and failure generally leads to fading audio and no audio.
+-^CrossBow^-
Did you disable the RF completely when you did the AV mod? If not, then try reconnecting through that to your TV and see if you have Audio again. if you do...then something must have come loose on the mod I'm thinking? Im still getting very faint sound, wich leads me to think Cap issue. Thanks for all the responses guys, gonna open her back up when i get a chance.
