Just got this in an email. Kind of odd, not aware of any dealings with him on eBay:

Hey Guys,

I know that we have dealt with each other on ebay in the past.

I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how truly blessed I feel to be involved with toys and games. I know that a lot of you have heard about the Coleco Retro Gaming Convention in August in NJ.

If you haven't i am attaching a flyer. We will have retro games, toys, cosplay and the like.

The event is very family friendly event.

We are also working on a number of other things such as a Rainbow Brite Game, a Robotech Game and a Robotech Toy line.

Please share the flyer on facebook and twitter if you can...

For those of you who sale a ton of items on ebay, i was wondering if i could send you a bunch of cards to give out in your shipments of games. Let me know. If not, then no worries.

"sale"

Anyone who is "OK" with making grammatical mistakes while trying to represent their company is a huge, huge idiot.

What am I saying here? Cardillo is a huge, huge idiot.

And one that doesn't understand the English language.

Don't go to his expo.

Don't support his crap.

At least not until he learns to speak and write English.

I've been known to get cranky at poor grammar in the gaming community - for example, see https://youtu.be/kh1drqSLzPM?t=1182

A few errors in this one, mostly minor. My favourite bit though is where it says that the purpose of the email is to say how truly "blessed" he feels to be a gamer, but immediately segues into the hard-sell on the convention which is of course just an aside and not the purpose of the email at all. The whole is rather unprofessional - but the unsolicited advertising to eBay contacts is pretty much blatant spam.

So now that Cardillo is admitting that "ColecoVision Nation" is his (Coleco's) Facebook page by saying "Take a moment to like US on Facebook..."

Doesn't that make the page a "product" page and not a "fan" page? Because they are still claiming on the Facebook page that it's a fan page made by someone who is "passionate about the system" you know, and NOT by the actual Coleco Toys company!

chris cardillo is really really dumb.png

A company masking their official product page as a "fan page" is pretty damn shady if you ask me. And not only that Cardillo is now doing *EXACTLY* what he accused me of, except for the fact that I actually didn't "produce" any of the items we featured on our page, and he's producing EVERYTHING that he is passing off as being a "fan" of on his page.

Now that Cardillo has admitted that his fake ColecoVision Fan page is actually a front for Coleco, I'm wondering if we can get Facebook to pull it because it's actually a "scam" page now, just like the rest of his entire Coleco Toys company.

Thankfully, Cardillo and his team are not intelligent enough to actually know how to use social media so instead of anything they are doing being helpful in any way to build their audience, they will just continue to make completely laughable posts and gain them little to no engagement or audience. Seriously, it's not that difficult!

So, either I'm doing it wrong or they removed all the grey "taken" dealer spots on the event map.

You now need to partially go through the process of buying a spot. It then allows you to select your "seat" and it then shows the availability map. Only one spot (A1 - 714) has been sold since I last posted the map:

Colecovision the system

Coleco the toy company.

For some reason, I keep reading Colecovision and Coleco as verbs...

Example #1: Go Colecovision yourself.

Example #2: Yo' dawg, that expo was seriously Coleco'd up.

Similar to squash, but more street.

Spamming your maybe one-time eBay buyers and begging them to spam their buyers is off the charts desperation. If this isn't bottom of the barrel, I don't know what is.

Apparently two Coleco "employees" showed up at the Too Many Games expo this past weekend in the greater Philadelphia area. Coleco wasn't sponsoring the event nor did they have a table, but these two individuals were talking up the Coleco Expo to vendors and handing out Coleco Expo flyers and vendor contracts. They were wearing the same ColecoVision shirts from the promo video Coleco put together, and one of the people handing out these flyers is in the video. I was told they had a "booth babe"-like appearance at TMG.
Another NJ convention (New Jersey Gamer Con) was told to go outside when TMG staff noticed they were handing out cards for their show, so they likely would have kicked these two out as well had they known what they were doing at the time. It was relayed to me that TMG staff threw out the Coleco Expo flyers after the fact.
Someone did get photos of the flyer/contract:

Is it typical to demand that your booth be open and staffed for the duration of the expo?

I can't speak to gaming conventions, but it's pretty typical for comic book conventions. Basically, unmanned booths can reflect badly on the convention and an unmanned boot can invite theft. There's leeway in the conventions I've been part of (bathroom breaks, meals, stretching your legs to check out the other booths) but it's not unreasonable.

That agreement is pretty boiler plate from my experience as I glance over it.

I stand corrected. Crashing someone else's Con and proselytizing vendors is the new low.

Why would PRGE have a booth? I'm assuming PRGE means Portland Retro Gaming Expo.

This was my thought exactly. In fact PRGE is the *ONLY* name on that list that I even recognized. Looks like that's one more expo I won't be attending, and I was actually thinking about going to PRGE too. I will not give money to any group that supports the Coleco Expo.
