Oh this is great!  Check out the latest group Coleco is promoting at their expo:

attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2017-05-27 at 19.51.06.png

Then let's click on their website and what do we see?

attachicon.gif2cf2f4ec518618fb6f3219ad1576be94_original.png

That's right!  Their product uses the official Nintendo logo!

So Coleco & Chris Cardillo - Since this is something you're promoting and OBVIOUSLY you've done your due diligence before showcasing this group, is it safe to assume that we can use the Coleco logos as long as we write "Unlicensed by Coleco Holdings LLC" because clearly that would be hypocritical of you to promote one group and bash another for doing *THE EXACT SAME THING!!!*

Don't bother replying, I know the answer...

So they say it's an NES cart but it's NOT for the NES.  They're dumber than I originally thought.  Of course those hypocrites are fine with others using the Nintendo logo and supporting those who use the Nintendo logo.  They're fine with whatever they say is okay; they're contradictory and hypocritical jerks.

The cynical view would be the whole thing is trickery, because unless one actually pays attention the mind just assumes it's the official licensed one (this one's from Gargoyle's Quest 2):

I guess the more charitable view might be that they were just having fun with the label design while having some amount of CYA.

This thread is by far the wildest, most out-of-this-world bizarrely entertaining one I've followed in a while.  It's got everything, absurdity, tragedy, hypocrisy, humor, you name it, it's in here!  :-D  What could possibly come next?  :rolling:

Has anyone posted this 2008 NYT article about RWB and how zombie brands work? The product doesn't have to be the same, but the tug of familiarity is supposed to be effective for bringing back old fans.

They operate like mobsters who hit up street vendors for "protection money".

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Pay our tax / protection fee and we won't harass you.

Video Game Bull S***? Or does "BS" stand for something else here? Might be a bad name for any serious podcast unless, you are doing parody or "bad game" reviews AVGN style.

And yeah, I seen the Nintendo logo at the bottom of the poster. Tons of fans and homebrewers do this across all systems, and it is bad practice IMO. It's one thing to borrow sprite art when doing fan sites or articles, but don't place any official looking logo on homebrew games, including Seal of Quality parodies where you would need to examine with a magnifying glass to get the joke.

People need to stop using the logos and stuff of other companies but I digress. It just opens yourself up to problems.

Dumb indeed. Maybe it just has 72 pins and interfaces with flying saucers for all we know... :lolblue:

Colecotoys website splash screen looks like a very poorly made Spectrum cable commercial with generic stock photos.  And someone out there who is going to buy that NES game (but it really isn't an NES game) is going to think it is and try to shove it into their NES.
