Hopefully she will re-offer these boards when the XEL is released.

Update:

Finally have the test protoboards assembled.  Just need to insert various chips and test.  I think I can test the SDriveXEL board fairly easily.  The XF551XEL Basic and the XF551SDriveXEL might be more problematic.  I've got a spare ATX power supply and floppy drive available, but the connections to an Atari and the power train are somewhat iffy.

Here's a little eye candy while I wait for the final version 1088XEL board to test with.

Do any of these options allow me to connect a 3.5" drive to a standard SIO connector on a real Atari computer?

Thanks.

No.  :(

For that you would need to do the 3.5" mod to a XF551 disk drive.

I asked before and was told this would not do that.

This goes internally, inside the case.  You could plug it in externally to SIO with the proper cabling.

Hmm. Interesting.

Thanks.

Read my post in the 1088XEL thread where you started this question... The 1088XEL uses an INTERNAL XF Controller board. That's what this is. I assumed that's what you wanted .

???

Have you ever considered selling 3d printed goods?

I wish I could.  My printer is not that dependable or precise.  It's okay for prototyping, but way to slow and expensive to run for production mode.  :(
