How about a game show for Atari employees and stockholders based on Takeshi's Castle?

(The theme song sounds like it was derived from the TPIR car music.)

Next on MxC: Atari Speakerhats Vs. Coleco Chameleons....Battle Of The Retro Kickstarters!

Hyperbole - "Million Dollar Pong" refers to how much Atari thinks the Pong franchise is worth. The actual prizes are Rice-a-Roni and Turtle Wax.

Of course, if you lose: (Quoted from "Weird Al" Yankovic's I Lost on Jeopardy:)

And let me tell you what you didn't win: a twenty set volume of the Encyclopedia International

A case of Turtle Wax, and a years supply of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco Treat

But that's not all, you also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people

And you brought shame and disgrace to your family name for generations to come

You don't get to come back tomorrow

You don't even get a lousy copy of our home game

You're a complete loser!

An interview with Chenais about RTC and start engine, the equity crowdfunding platform... and zero mention of the crowdfunding Ataribox, except the one guy in the comments, LOL....

It's titled:

What is Atari doing funding RollerCoaster Tycoon on an equity crowdfunding platform?

Two things stood out:

It may come as a surprise to fans of games to find a historic, profitable and influential name like Atari using legislation like the JOBS Act to fund its operations. The JOBS Act’s stated intention, after all, is to jumpstart business startups. It’s in the name.

But “small business” isn’t necessarily a mom-and-pop shop or a small team of game designers. In broad terms, it’s any business with fewer than 500 employees. Atari falls well within that guideline.

So... Atari's just taking advantage of a way to bilk people out of their money, that was intended for true startups. Not hasbeen companies peddling leftover IPs.

Speaking of which:

What is relevant for me is, can crowdfunding constitute a source of financing for my portfolio of more than 200 games?

"His" portfolio of more than 200 games. Sure, he's the majority shareholder in the company that owns them. But he had no part in their creation or initial success. It would seem less arrogant to say "our" or "Atari's".

Not winning over any fans here.

On the plus side, we'll have more stuff to negatively and short-sightedly mock when they launch their Fig campaigns.

Snore fest. What is interesting is contemplating the kind of booger eating morons that would give them money for that scam, or the ethical somersaults the Atari staff are doing to make it appear that someone has. I'd like to think people are not that stupid by and large.

"What is relevant for me is, can crowdfunding constitute a source of financing for my portfolio of more than 200 games?”

Translation: "Can using my portfolio of 200 largely useless games made by other people decades ago help me be more successful at begging and scamming for money?"
