Love small breweries. Drank the big national brands for too long, had no ideal what Id been missing out on.

Picking out a new beer at the ole booze brick and mortar is as much fun as picking out a new game.

About to receive an order of 5 games from Atari Age, Im already backed up on games and thats about to get worse. Excited to get them though, Seawolf, Beef Drop, Dungeon Stalker, Super Cobra and Draconian. Dungeon Stalker being the one Im most excited about. :0

Be sure to write up some reviews for the AtariAge store when you get a chance. :)

Will do. The past Jaguar games Ive gotten from them have been nicely done so high hopes for these as well.

Yeah, AtariAge does an awesome job with their cartridges/package designs. At one point I was considering selling my AVGN game on AtariAge, but the problem with that is setting up negotiations with James Rolfe and Cinemassacre, etc. When I made that game and sent it off to James, I wasn't really prepared to sell it/figure out the economics of making the cartridges/getting past the copyright issues, etc.

AtariAge (Albert) doesn't sell NES games in his store.

Meh...it's an X86 PC, you can install Windows on it.

Actually I read somewhere else that game consoles handle memory differently, so even though they're technically x86-based machines, the desktop/PC version of Windows cannot actually run normally on an Xbox One X or PS4. It has something to do with the fact that Windows 10's memory management reserves it in different ways for applications and multitasking, etc... And then you have dedicated GDDR5/6 memory for the graphics, etc... I forget the technicalities behind it. lol.

However given that we have laptops that could do what the VCS is claiming to do, it might still be possible. Not sure how they go about having the system partitions structured, etc.

Mine was an Atari 2600 game, not an NES game. (see my signature)

Saw that game video on his channel. Really well done stuff! Id love to have that type of skill to design games :0 but alas Im helpless with coding or anything resembling coding.

Not sure what it would be but it would have gorillas, owls and penguins in it because those are the three coolest animals..

On and lava, lots of lava..

Thanks dude! :D

Yeah, ive been striving to be an indie developer for quite some time. Put out my first iPhone/Android game recently. I actually also wanted to make an exclusive game for the new VCS too, to kind of help the system along a bit. I know that it has to be a DAMN good game though for it to work out well though xDDD. Making games is really daunting, especially if youre just one person doing it all like i am.

Probably. :)

What was said in the Q&A suggests that they're not intending the user to be able to put their own OS on the internal eMMC at all and that even Ubuntu on an external drive is going to need some modifications to boot up.

That may of course turn out to be complete hogwash, but I wouldn't bank on this thing letting you install Windows easily or running it well. Especially so when it's not even a thing yet.

But how could low-end PC hardware that'll be at least three years old by the time it reaches the market (assuming that it does) possibly not run Windows well? ;)

How long did it take to get a shipping notification? I placed an order on the 5th of July and I haven't gotten a shipping notification. I emailed sales the other day and haven't heard back.

my garage / workbench computer is a dual core AMD phenom II from about 2008 maybe 9 with 4 gigs of ddr 2 and I stream 1080 content on it all day while having datasheets and webcam software up on it, it will even play GTA4 at a reasonable framerate with windows 10 installed

See how well it does when you replace the spinning disk with eMMC.

Admittedly, you'd need something newer than that to make that idea doable, but eMMC is crap for disk throughput, and that will kill your OS performance.

Last couple of orders it took 7-10 days or so to get a ship notice.

Not received one yet on the recent order placed on July 7th.

Speedy they aint!

It takes 1-2 weeks for me to get orders out (sometimes sooner, sometimes longer). I'm finishing up a large batch of games now and will have them out in a few days. Then the cycle repeats. Games are built to order--if I had a huge inventory of games sitting on shelves I'd be able to ship much more quickly, but that's not the case, unfortunately.

This is (now) stated during the checkout process, but I'm not sure how many people actually read that paragraph of text. :)
