New Atari Console that Ataribox?

I saw that and thought about posting something but then thought, "The French? What do they know about food?"

Dude, French food is awesome. Unfortunately, the concept of paying a lot for something small and cute but not substantial doesn't really translate into video games.

Now I'm hungry for Brie and escargot. Damn you.

Well, bread-wrapped stews and savory dishes to go, were a common staple among the working-poor,during the Depression era. It kept your hands clean while on break at the work-site. Yeah, it's basically poutine "with the meats" and other sauces, instead of gravy, wrapped to go.

Disagreed.

There are a lot of ways to make to poutine (which, it should be pointed out, is Quebecois, not French), but at its most basic poutine consists of the following:

  1. French Fries
  2. Cheese Curds
  3. Gravy

Note #2 above - cheese curds. Not cheese. If you're making poutine with cheese, you're failing at it.

Any other additions are fine, but fries, gravy, and curds are the base. If it doesn't have those, it's not poutine.

I stand corrected. I knew someone would note the cheese and I was going to make a comment about attempting to co-opt Poutine ,by making it French, but thought better of it. icon_wink.gif

Okay you poutine purists, I just said what it LOOKED like, to ME. ;) I didn't mean to insult your messy, but tasty, native junk food.

So according to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_tacos

this pie thing was started in southeast France by some Moroccan brothers, and often uses processed (American) cheese, which is about as un-French as something can be. And they call the proper taco "Mexican tacos" by way of contrast.

And here we are. An international set of middle aged dorks talking about the French-owned revival of a computer with a Japanese name originally made for American children.

Perhaps we need a "Mexican taco" descriptor for the "2019 Atari VCS" so we can talk about it more precisely. TacoBox is insulting to tacos. Vapor Console Scam is accurate but inelegant. Wouldn't it be nice if it just went away instead?

Well, we're in the last hundred days, or so, of the campaign, aren't we? Maybe we could incorporate a side-focus, on some tacos gone wrong, other unsatisfatacory experiences.or just tacos that are outside the mold, with atypical ingredients, like spaghetti or some such. I stole this from Google cache, as the original image appears to have been deleted or removed from public viewing on the site it was posted at. ;)

So tomorrow is the big day? Or a day? Just a day? I don't know but the day is nigh, or something.

Tomorrow is Google's GDC event. ;D

SOON

soon is a trademark of Epic Games when talking about Duke Nukem Forever, soon is also a trademark of Valve when talking about Half Life 3 ;-)

Really? Huh, I thought Atari acquired that one first.

Once, in the throws of a post-bender hangover, a bunch of friends and I drove to a Jack-in-the-Box, and requested to order a bunch of tacos:

"We'd like 12 DOZEN 99 cent tacos"

...

"You'd like 12 tacos?"

...

"No, 12 DOZEN tacos"

...

"You'd like 12 tacos?"

...

"No, 12 DOZEN tacos"

...

"How many is that?"

...

"Hold on let me get my calculator....That's 144 tacos."

...

"You'll need to pull around to the front."

Pointless story?

yeah, but so is the inevitable announcement.

When I worked for Jack in the Box it was nothing unusual to get huge orders of tacos from drunks and druggies all night. It was basically their business model tbh. Nothing was more important to the management then capturing that business.

What's funny is that I was going to make a point that we'd not been talking about tacos enough, (Even those school lunch tacos they serve over at the Jack in the Box (*shudder*)), but before I could think up a post, people had chimed in with taco stories and I was happy once again :) *... Somehow tacos keep my mind off of this nutari nu-vcs.

And while I do think the poor investors will get something, I simply Can't call that thing a "VCS"...It'd be like saying Footloose and expecting people to think of Kenny Wormald (?), or thinking the Karate Kid is Will Smith's kiddo, or thinking Blue Monday is an Orgy song, or mentioning the Pontiac GTO and expecting people to chime in that the only one people will recall is the 2004 model...

*And, for the record, I'd rather discuss tacos than dissect Lodmot's opinion, (Fascinating though it is :) ...I feel like Lodmot has got his opinions and shouldn't have to clarify them so much; Only to then have to discuss/defend his clarifications. We all have our preferences, we all have our fanboy moments, ya know?
