New Atari Console that Ataribox?

This thread is almost 2 years old. Didn't the Chameleon die by the time two years rolled around?

It was a little over one year, as I recall, from the first mention of the Retro VGS on AtariAge to the "tabling" of the Coleco Chameleon. Unlike "that Ataribox?", at least it looks as if we're going to get an interesting book out of the Mike Kennedy fiasco.

I think that sandwich is starting to show its age as well. It's probably sitting in a garbage bag in a dump.

For some reason, seeing that picture reminds me of this memorable description of a cheese sandwich, as given in the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" adventure game:

"The bread is like the stuff that stereos come packed in, the cheese would be great for rubbing out spelling mistakes, and margarine and pickle have performed an unedifying chemical reaction to produce something that shouldn't be, but is, turquoise."

"The Cheese (type unspecified) is a minor god who is worshipped by the Tyromancers. According to Wowbagger, the Cheese isn't a particularly powerful god, his only powers being the ability to send out cheese dreams and divinity. At some point, he tried to murder Wowbagger at Wowbagger's own request. The Cheese attempted to kill Wowbagger with a cheese fondue, which failed but left him lactose intolerant."

I'm thinking of a Swedish song by Alice Tegnér:

Tula hem och tula vall,

tula långt åt mossen.

Kål fick jag när jag kom hem,

kål fick jag i påsen.

Mjölken var båd' gul och blå,

osten såg jag lite å,

smöret smakte jag aldrig.

Tula is an old dialectal word that used to have many different meanings and is a bit hard to explain. Basically the song is about a young girl moving cattle to the chalet and back home, and tula would be a word describing her hard work and struggles to undertake the work day and night. Since I can't find a direct translation, I'll keep the word as is:

Tula home and tula lea,

tula far to the bog,

I got cabbage when I got home,

I got cabbage in my bag.

The milk was both yellow and blue,

the cheese I only saw a little of,

I never tasted the butter.

While the Ataribox project may be full of struggles, we haven't seen a lot of the hard work yet.

And none of the backers will ever taste the butter.

It struck me that the backers probably will have to wait until the cows come home before they get something.

Chameleon didn't take any money from "investors" like this did. They embarrassed themselves for free!

Not totally true. Mike tried to take public investors money but it didn't work cause his IGG was a flop. He only ripped off private investors AKA his friends (some on atariage) and family. Tens of thousands if you follow his own words about it which can be found preserved on this forum in the Scameleon Archive Threads.

"Until the cows come home" is a fine English idiom, it means for a very long time. We will be shitposting about the "Atari VCS" until the cows come home.

Funny tidbit: I grew up on a farm, and my grandmother frequently said "until the cows come home". It took me many years to realize she wasn't being literal.

Are you suggesting that he might have said something that isn't entirely true?
