Van
Was thinking if it would be worth the effort to setup 64K BB SRAM. Hiassoft has an 512K RAM extension with backup, and would make sense for a RAM disk. But for just the main RAM would the OS initialize most of it at boot? +bob1200xl
Not too sure what you are doing, but the OS initializes all of the main RAM on a cold boot (power on or forced) and only a small portion on warm boot (press RESET). Bob

Bob Thanks, was thinking that might be the case. As the XEL uses a 64K SRAM was wondering if it would be worthwhile to add a DS1210. There's also the U1MB and how it handles the system RAM to consider. Will have to dig deeper into the Pros and Cons Yogi
+bob1200xl
The SRAM in the XEL is not the low current chips that you need for battery back-up. They draw about 10ma in standby - you want 10ua or less. Bob
