Good to know I'm not the one at fault. I might plug in my NTSC 800 and try as well.

Defender Proto - 100K+ retired. Played about 10 waves, prototype is too easy as the logic of the aliens is not fully developed - you can round them up in packs! Well just make this 1pt for playing :)

Defender (normal normal) 246,850 :-o :)

Fandal is quick on the case and has fixed the fixed Defender

>>>BTW. There are 10 humanoids to save in my file version of Defender. So it
plays like original cart version. There are many file versions flying
around where there are only 8 humanoids to save due to a bug in
conversion.

Regards
F.

<<<

Now the question is does this make it easier as it's less likely to become hostile or harder as more of the crazy flying things are on your tail?  There's only one way to find out - better say when posting which version you are on ;)

It might help raise some scores up.  That's a possible extra 1,000 points per level.  Plus, more humanoids to rescue.  I'll have to try out the fixed version now.  :)

Minor improvements, though they won't affect my ranking:

Defender - 33075 pts.

Played the new fixed version, works great on my 130XE.

defender-33075.jpg

Defender Prototype - 17600 pts.

I realized that you're not supposed to kill all humanoids yourself...

defender-proto-17600.jpg

By the way Deteacher, the Fandal fixed version had 10 humanoids all the time. Only in the case of me and TRBB who could not get it to work on our 130XE's, we might've played older versions with 8 humanoids, so if anything increased scores should only be relevant to those who played a non-Fandal fixed version previously.

Edit: I played Diamondz 2 as well. I cleared two levels, then failed on level 3. I'm not likely to play this any further, I can't handle it.

About 4 levels are hard enough that I have to use the freeze code to get them completed.  But in general I have been using the freeze code since about level 10..

Spoiler [Hoover over picture to see code for 39]  I don't know how to hide a spoiler

2 Days on this level about 5-7 hours.

And I still haven't found a useful starting Strategy..

First post in the High Score Club, but I was looking for help.

  :-o at this rate you might even get Dope to have to have a 2nd go

Welcome rdea6  so far I'm on level 27 so you are on your own for now! The Diamondz 2 title screen looks amazing. What's nice on most levels you can attack different bits and then stitch it all together when you've mastered them.

Are there any games you'd like to see in the poll for the next round?

Now loading Defender with the 10 humanoids...

273,575 level 18. I'd say the difficulty is comparable so players can choose which version they prefer :)

Retired at 650k wave 45. I'll have another go when I've got more time.

I'm playing the cart version

1504000 Got to level 99 and retired.

I tried 'Hard' but it didn't seem too much more difficult, although I only played the first 5 waves. I wonder if you get fewer bonus lives and or smart bombs?

OK we'll call wave 99 retired a "win" with 12 HSC pts - and then it's play on hard for extra point battles If you guys wish.

Diamonds 2 not quite caught up with you rdea6, level 38 is a killer! I've completed the left side once but the right side must be a trick with the exit appearing over the bomb (that's my theory) probably another 30 goes required!!

Space Fortress Omega: still final play testing, pretty decent (really), looking into boxed options but might give up and just release it soon :)

I've been playing on 'Easy'. I didn't realise that the default diffculty is 'Easy' or at least it is on the cart! I wonder if anyone else has made this mistake?

337100 - NORMAL!

The same applies to every dumped version, including the latest from Fandal. I suppose once you have set difficulty to Normal and just press Start to have another round without going through the title screen, the difficulty remains? Well, interesting that you managed to score 5X as much on Easy as on Normal. Personally I doubt I'll five-fold my score by lowering the difficulty level but who knows.

Yes I presume that once you've set the difficulty that the setting remains for subsequent games.

Completed Diamondz 2 :)

Diamondz 2 Completed.jpg

Possibly the 10 Humanoid version is easier as I just retired after beating Wave 99 on 'normal' :-o  I found my quickshot with left hand pressing down on the base and fingers stretched to the space bar and other keys and mainly going right, plus, a dark room with the threat of a passing thunderstorm wiping out the power and high humidity were perfect conditions for play! I think there were a couple of waves in the 80s where there were no green guys, lots of red cluster things and those mine layers.

(screenshot from wave 94 and then final score after 99)

Now to rest my hand and brain :-D
