accousticguitar
I've been searching the internet but have not found anything. I disassembled it myself but I have no clue what is going on. Does there happen to be someone out there that would have a commented disassembly for this? I would like to change the control scheme to something similar to what I did with Dogfight. accousticguitar
I gave up on the controller hack. All I can do is this graphic hack where I changed the cars to look more like actual cars. Slot Racers Wheel hack 4.bin
SoundGammon
How about a hack where you don't see the players shots? Be a whole new game for sure!
accousticguitar
How about a hack where you don't see the players shots? Be a whole new game for sure! I like that idea! It's probably beyond my capabilities though.
SoundGammon
The cars look better! Maybe we should put a call out to Nukey for the shot hack!
accousticguitar
Yeah the original game looked like gun cartridges running around a track shooting square bullets.
Nukey Shay
Maybe we should put a call out to Nukey for the shot hack! Swap PF pixels for background and use a flickered ball sprite for the shots? The maze paths being playfield pixels would then hide the sprite.
accousticguitar
I'm actually working on a Combat hack right now. I have the maze looking like the first maze in Slot Racers. I have the player starting position changed and the controls are working the way I want them to. I still need to work on speed and sound. The big thing is collisions. I'm not sure if those are going to work out the way I want them to.
Nukey Shay
Which is?
accousticguitar
Mainly to stay in the slots.
Nukey Shay
Started to work on this, but then realized quickly that the game would be unplayable with invisible shots (how are you going to know where your OWN shot is?). This demo uses the ball sprite for both players in games 11 to 19 (dups of 1 - 9). Collisions have not yet been coded, but you can already see the problem when they are invisible. accousticguitar
I see what you mean. I actually just finished a batari basic game that is not nearly as good as Slot Racers but it does demonstrate the control scheme I was trying to implement in Slot Racers. kars.bin
Nukey Shay
The weird thing is that the program was originally disabling the ball sprite in the kernel (even tho the game wasn't using it, and cold start had already cleared it). So the programmer may have had some idea of using it for something.
