ST = First color point of sale (touchscreen) setup?

Recommended Posts

That's pretty interesting. I had never seen an ST used for something like that but just having a touch screen back then would have been cool.

I was on the Microsoft team that created WEPOS (Windows Embedded POS). Of course, the POS alone was something to snicker at, especially when we found bugs.

Yes, I remember seeing this back in the day at the West Coast Computer Faire in San Francisco. I believe the ViewTouch folks asked our user group (ABACUS) to squeeze it into our big display at our booth at the show. The touchscreen really worked. I was amused by it to say the least. One thing that I do remember when using it was that I had to press the screen hard in order to register my touch. Lightly touching the screen like I would with my iPhone would not register my touch. Back then though, touch sensitivity didn't matter. What mattered was that it worked! :)

Nice read

I did a few searches and I couldn't find anything about this -- but this article appears to indicate one of the first (or THE first?) touch screen + color point of sale (POS) terminal was powered by a 520ST?
