Xebec
I did a few searches and I couldn't find anything about this -- but this article appears to indicate one of the first (or THE first?) touch screen + color point of sale (POS) terminal was powered by a 520ST? http://www.viewtouch.com/birthplace.html and pic of the interface from Comdex 86 - http://www.viewtouch.com/comdex_1986_1b.png
Justin Payne
That's pretty interesting. I had never seen an ST used for something like that but just having a touch screen back then would have been cool. I was on the Microsoft team that created WEPOS (Windows Embedded POS). Of course, the POS alone was something to snicker at, especially when we found bugs.

atarian1
Yes, I remember seeing this back in the day at the West Coast Computer Faire in San Francisco. I believe the ViewTouch folks asked our user group (ABACUS) to squeeze it into our big display at our booth at the show. The touchscreen really worked. I was amused by it to say the least. One thing that I do remember when using it was that I had to press the screen hard in order to register my touch. Lightly touching the screen like I would with my iPhone would not register my touch. Back then though, touch sensitivity didn't matter. What mattered was that it worked! Edited July 2, 2017 by atarian1

ParanoidLittleMan
Yes, Atari ST had it's 15 minutes of fame. If they could continue ST line more consistently, establishing some standard expansion bus for all 68xxx models, doing development faster ....
