+Karl G
The venerable pack-in cartridge Combat generally doesn't get much love, but it was actually pretty decent - many different games in one with a lot of variations (invisible tanks with ricocheting bullets!). Anyway, I was wondering if Combat had any sequels, interesting hacks, or homebrew variants out here, perhaps under a different name? It seems like a Combat reboot could potentially be fun. +SpiceWare
A sequel was under development: http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/combat2/combat2.htm ROM's here: http://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=1137
+Karl G
Thanks! This is interesting, although I'm surprised that there isn't combat-themed homebrew out there that's more true to the spirit of the original game. Perhaps there's not much interest in such a game, though. :-)
accousticguitar
The Combat disassembly is well commented so there are a lot of hacks out there (including Dogfight which is in my signature). Here are a couple links. http://atariage.com/hack_page.html?SystemID=&SoftwareHackID=185 http://atariage.com/forums/topic/198986-broadside-an-extensive-combat-hack-with-25-variations/

RamrodHare
I always loved Combat. My problem was finding someone to play it with, come to think of it, that's still my problem. What I always wanted was a one player version. I found a rom a while back that had the beginnings of an AI opponent, but it was unfinished. I'd love to see someone finish it and make a fully functioning version, since there are a lot of us who don't have access to a second player all the time.
