Swami
The AtariGuide AC adapter has been around for a couple of years now. Have you had good luck, bad luck? Heard good things or bad things? Is it a good replacement for the original power supplies? Thanks! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ac-Power-Adapter-for-Atari-7800-System-/112168344158?hash=item1a1dc11a5e:g:I7IAAOSw4shYA0PD
Albert
I have several of these that I purchased new from AtariGuide and they work well. Much better than some other cheaper third-party power supplies I bought (don't remember what brand, but they were very light and the cords weren't very long). ..Al

I saw this was a complaint of Brad at Best Electronics, that most of the clone cords were very short.

I know some have noted that it fits a bit more snug in the console than the OEM plug, but that's a minor knock. One significant warning, however: do NOT purchase it directly from the AtariGuide website. The guy who owns that site and store abandoned it over a year ago and does not fulfill orders or respond to emails. Idiotically, he kept the store live and he still accepts orders through PayPal but hasn't fulfilled an order in over a year. Several of us have fallen into that trap and had to have PayPal refund us, but that process takes a while and is quite a hassle. That said, eBay and Amazon work like a charm. I'm often able to find untested OEM 7800 PSU's for between $10-15 periodically on eBay, though, and they always wind up working and I would recommend those over AtariGuide's, but they do get the job done if needed.

Fixed the bad link. Thank for the info. I guess it depends on experience with used OEM. First used OEM ac adapter I bought for my 2600 didn't work, so been hesitant ever since, but may have been a fluke.

My last contact with Jason at AtariGuide was in 2015 when I bought a batch of 2600 power supplies from him. I then tried to write him again in March of 2016, but never received a response. I just tried to visit http://atariguide.com and it's not coming up for me. ..Al

Albert
Yep, just like Joe, he just walked away. Joe is still filling orders from his store, right? Maybe a bit slowly.. I assume his focus is still his eBay store, but I haven't looked at that in a while. ..Al
CPUWIZ
No, he ignores them AFAIK, there are multiple threads about it.

+groundtrooper
Being a "new guy" here... Is one these guys you are talking about atari2600.com. I tried to place an order over there about a month ago. They are "in my back yard" so to speak. Their CC processing kicks back an error, sent 2 - 3 emails with no response. The site has 2017 dating all over it but I was told in another thread that it hasn't been updated in years. So I guess I just saved $50 to go toward new HB's tomorrow. Yes, Joe Cody is/was atari2600.com. Super cool guy, met him in person many many times. Have done tons of deals with him both ways as well. He probably has a good reason for focusing on a higher revenue audience (read: not just vintage games).
+groundtrooper
Thanks. Ya I figured it was one of those. I still don't get paying for a domain on a shop that you are going to ignore. At least change the home page to say the store is closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good to see that the site is down, now, so it can't happen to more people, but a shame that he did, indeed, walk away. It does appear that Jason is the one selling his PSUs on Amazon, however, as "DataAlchemy" was the name listed on the copyright at the bottom of his site (I did some sleuthing last year). Makes it even worse that he stopped responding to people!

Swami
atari2600.com is gone? Should have bought some backup controller-USB adapters... First Stelladaptor, now 2600-daptor discontinued Edit: Never-mind the 2600-daptor comment, that is a different site. Just panicked. Still atari2600.com was a good site. Sad to see it go.

First Stelladaptor, now 2600-daptor discontinued Gone is a relative term. The site is still there with 2017 copyright right dates at the bottom of every page. I had worked up a $50+ cart and it wouldn't accept my payment. I ended up sending multiple emails with no response. I am guessing the stuff I had in my cart hasn't been in his inventory for a number of years. I was told on FB or another thread here that the site really hadn't been updated since 2006-2007ish. I don't know if that is true. All I know is I wish I could have got all the stuff that was in my cart. But alas the site appears to be legit, it no longer is.
