PRGE Overlay Repair Opportunity Question

Recommended Posts

The title may be confusing but here is the deal. I have the equipment and supplies to restore crumpled or dented overlays back to almost new condition. I plan on going to the PRGE in Oct and was wondering if any of you Intellivision fans would be interested in bringing your old overlays with you and having them reconditioned? I would only ask for enough money for each one to cover the cost of consumables used in the process. That shoud be about 25 cents each would more than cover the cost I believe. If this is something you would be interested in please respond to this thread and let me know you are interested along with about how many you plan to bring with you, otherwise there would be no sense in lugging the stuff there and setting it up. If the overlays are ripped or torn they can be done but they don't always turn out. Also, the Imagic don't always do well with my process but some do. I would also be interested in any process you use to repair yours.

Just a thread to see how many may be interested.

Thanks,

HJ

I had a pair of overlays (AD&D) that were particularly bad, mangled at the bottom from forcing them into controllers. I tried ironing them. It came out surprisingly well. I wrapped them in a cloth so the texture of the cloth was transferred to the overlays giving them an interesting feel. Maybe something smoother can be used. I'm not sure but the overlays might have come out thinner in the process.

Try smooth cardboard/cardstock to act as a heat barrier.
