eightbit
Well, I found the Overdrive I need which is quite rare (Overdrive 180MHz with MMX tech for 60FSB Socket 5 systems) but one issue. The seller removed the fan at some point and it wasn't included. I bought the processor anyway as it was a steal, but now I need a fan. I would have posted this in the marketplace wanted section but I figured maybe more people will view it in the computer forums that may not read the wanted area. Does anyone have one of these or know where I can get one?
Gamemoose
I did a quick search and I just get more info than places to buy. The fan looks proprietary as well. So basically you have the fins that the fan sits in or do you have a bare processor. If it's bare, could a standard CPU fan for a Socket 7 processor work? Osgeld
A socket 7 fan should be the same size as a socket 5 in footprint but if its one that the heatsink is glued to the chip and the fan clips on that's going to be hard to find Now here's a interesting thought a long time ago I had a non mix 166 laptop and I tried jamming a 450mhz k6/ in it That bent one pin on the cpu which I cut off and set the system up to run at 333 with a 66mhz fsb ... And it ran fine for the two or 3 years I had it
eightbit
I ended up buying another overdrive (cheapest one I could find) just to gut it for the fan as all of the pentium OD's used the same fan luckily
Osgeld
I remember the heat sink was fairly easy to break free as the last pentium overdrive I had I used its heatsink and fan on my geforce II ultra when its fan got all crappy

I was reading an article on the OD's so Socket 7 was on my brain.
