Just received a BNIB Atari 5200 VCS Adapter. Plunged the adapter in and tried a few of my 2600 games and just get a blank screen. (2600 games are tested and cleaned and I do have a 2 port Atari 5200.) Checked the adapter and  noticed it needed cleaning after 30+ years of storage. Even after cleaning I just get a blank screen. Have any ideas what I should check?

Thanks...

clean the contacts good also on your 2600 games and u use a piece of cereal box cardboard to clean the 2600 /5200 cart slot contacts

maybe the adapter is broken

I'm thinking bit-rot killed an IC inside the adaptor.

If that may be the issue, can this be fixed/replaced?

Yes, it uses the exact same IC's that any 2600 system would have.

If you have a working 2600, swap the 3 chips and see if 2600 boots up.  If not, one of the chip has gone bad.  If it does boot up, you got a problem elsewhere.
