Any of these copied manuals need a scan?

I have the following manuals, most of which are copied/bootlegged apparently - curious if any of these need scanning or not? (If not I'd like to recycle the paper for the copied ones.. I will keep any original manuals of course). I would appreciate responses..

SynCalc manual (~ 150 pgs)

 

Synfile+ Reference card and manual (115+ pgs)

 

Syngraph - Hi res color graphing (~ 82 pgs)

 

Reference manual for C/65 "a small c language compiler" including the "oops" errata page

 

Reference manual for DUG/65 (an assembly langauge debugging program for use with 6502..)

F-15 Strike Eagle (Microprose)

 

Using an Epson printer with Atari Basic. Has hand written instructions for "to make a copy of the atariwriter disk with the "drivers" for double density, do the following". Mentions using an Atari 850 and Epson cable CR-92003.

Flight Simulator II v1.05 manual - includes "Flight Physics and Aircraft Control with an introduction to aerobatics" book

OK First 7 scans are here - please let me know if OK enough quality (lighting not great). 6 of 7 are via an Android phone scanning app, the 7th (Atariwriter using EMX80FTE..) is via a MFC scanner.

 

The Amdek manual I decided to throw in the sealed plastic since it looked like it was never opened.

 

All are complete except the "atari next generation preview" - I suspect there's a good copy of this out there already somewhere, so I only scanned 4 pages .. let me know if I need to attempt a good scan of this manual. It shows and provides details of 1400XL, 1450XLD, etc... as well as software applications available as of ~ 1983 or so..

 

"First and Finest OS/A+" will be a lot of work to scan but I can do it. I have 2 others to scan as well that won't be too bad.

It's great to be able to read the other documents. I realize that it's a lot harder to scan stuff than to photograph stuff but the results are well worth it.

 

You eliminate a lot of things like shadows, blurry text, non-flat paper, etc, etc.

 

Here's a quick guideline I sent some recently about scanning.

 

 

When/if you scan the manuals can you please:

Scan at 300 dpi.

Scan at 100% size (not less than or more then)

Scan then in TIFF format. No compression.

What I usually do is for manuals I scan in tiff format and save them in a PDF so people can read them as one document.

Some better software can output in a 'Text' format for black on white print. I do this when I can. If it's color I scan in color or if it's grey(black & white)-shaded pictures I scan in "Black & White photo".

 

 

Even just 300 dpi jpgs would do although Tiff is always preferred because you can do a lot more with them.

 

You can see by the Atariwriter Quick Reference Guide link how much better quality of a picture you can get with even a $50 scanner, compared to even a $5000 camera.

 

Than again if you don't have access to a scanner there's not much else you can do.

Yeah I do have access to a scanner - which is why the "Atariwriter_Using_EMX80FT3" driver book looks better. TIFF, 300 dpi is how I like to scan as well.

 

The OS/A book would require destroying the backing to scan, although a few of the others I can probably redo without hurting the materials too much. Because of that I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to proceed..

 

Are there any PDFs in particular you (or others would) like rescanned?

 

I have a little bit of time now because I'm inbetween jobs, and audiobooks make scanning less boring.. . But if the materials are good enough for quick reference, then I'd rather not spend more time on them..

Thank you for the AT88 Docs Xebec. I have added the wiring diagram here even thought this is not the same controller board. I'm beginning to wonder lust how many

AT88 controller boards there were. My controller board is different from the wiring diagram too!

Unfortunately you need a specialized program to upload stuff to the actually database. They do have a ftp folder that you can upload stuff to but that stuff won't be seen in the actual database until someone adds it in.

 

Basicly you have to be asked to join. I was asked a couple of years ago after submitting a bunch of scans. I just work on the 8-bit section. (****Cough*** it would be nice to have some help ***Cough Cough***) There are others who work on the 2600 section as well as others who work on the ST section.

 

As far as stuff to rescan, if you could rescan the Archon II manual that would be great. The other two would be the Percom Data AT88 manual and the Using the Epson Printer with Atari Basic manual.
