bikeguychicago
Aside from the space dogfight stage, is there any major difference between the Sega-produced Zaxxon and the Datasoft version available on the AtariAge store? It's hard to tell from watching what videos are available. Thanks!
tep392
The fight with the Zaxxon robot is simplified in the 5200 version in both graphics and it's mechanics. The Sega version is missing the missiles that fire up from the ground. I also fixed a bug that kills the ship if it passes over an certain area that looks clear of enemies.

Thanks for the clarification. Seems like the AA one is the one to buy to play whereas is the other is to feed my completionist compulsions. Tempest
I also fixed a bug that kills the ship if it passes over an certain area that looks clear of enemies. Was that only with the Sega one? I always thought both versions had that bug.

bikeguychicago
Were both the Sega and the Datasoft versions originally done by the same programmers? They look very similar to each other.
tep392
My guess is that every release was derived from the same source code. There was a 16k and 32k version but they where released on the same datasoft disk. The appropriate version would get selected at boot time after doing a memory test.
