Level42
Does anybody have any tips on how to remove the bezel of the 1050 drive mechanism ? (No not the bezel of the case but of the drive itself )
Bryan
It's something like this: 1. Pull the Eject handle off 2. Unscrew the 90-degree handle peg. 3. Work the bezel snaps free. 4. Unplug the snapped in LED. I did a bezel swap here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/254308-fun-little-project-the-sleeper-1050/

Level42
Ha, much simpler as I had thought.....only the LED seems to be glued in mine ? Don't dare to pull too hard on the wires....son't want to solder a new one I'll cut open the bezel....it's broken already anyway Thanks again, big help ! Bryan
the LED comes out the back (it snaps in and expands the holder/lens), then the LED holder can come out the front. They may be glued together, but it shouldn't be too hard get them apart with a sharp tool..
Level42
Uggh....naturally the LED's wires snapped off...but no problem....plenty of LEDs here...and I can salvage one from the defective mechanism that will be a donor for the new bezel.
Bryan
Oh well, sometimes those old leads get brittle.
