Escape 2042, any news on release date yet?

As Orion_ mentioned in his thread about having to sell his jaguar stuff, i became reminded of his game Escape 2042 being delayed for the jaguar release.

Im curious as to when this is planned to be released? I dont want to miss out on Orion_'s swan song game for the jag, so if anyone in the know could let the rest of us know roughly when this game will be released, i would be highly appreciative. Makes planning for the expense easier.

the jaguar version of the game is ready since june, now waiting on Albert for the release, the game will be available on AA store, probably by the end of october..

but I guess Albert might make more precision on this, since he his producing the game.

If not, I'm sure there will be SOME new homebrewS available for purchase come October. (by someone....)

Orion, are there still copies of Alices Moms Rescue available for purchase on Jaguar CD? I would like to pick that one up as I have missed it from my collection and I know the carts (preferable) are no longer available.

There's a current run being made. Have you contacted Gaztee?

Orion still has stock of AMR on cd according to his websites store. But as mentioned above, he is re-releasing three games through Gatzee who is taking pre-orders for cart releases of Elansar, AMR and Orions jag collection untill September 22nd i believe. Ive pre-ordered and paid for all three already. Talk to gatzee and he will set you up i think.

LOL, finally had a chance to play this game last night, and was greeted by this intro:

In the year 2042, a socialist government is in power, but nobody had foreseen the progressive dictatorship that settled in. The elites of the government hid behind a sham democracy, disconnected from the life the people were leading, and acted solely in their own interests.
The regime considered the dissidents as conspiracy theorists, treated them like terrorists and locked them away in highly-secured prisons, to prevent them from telling the people the truth about the manipulating medias accomplice of the government power.
You are Shun, a computer engineer and member of the Truth Defenders coalition. After a clandestine operation to inform the people, you are locked away in the highly-secured prison Bulor 24. But your knowledge on security systems will enable you to escape.

I was like, OMG, this game is meant for me. The music is good too!!! Hahah, not trying to rub anyone the wrong way, but definitely recommend this game. I totally suck at it, I mean, bad... but I'm getting there.

Isn't he French? Don't they have socialized medicine? Is that what he's fighting against?

I debated posting this because I didn't want to go too far down this path. Just saying... Orion and I would be good friends if he lived near me! Haha.

I just wish I was better at this game. I really suck at it. I cant jump past the first platform. I immediately get shocked. I'll play some more when I get the chance in the coming days. The music and game play is quickly turning out to be one of my favorites though.

Only an idiot, or someone who has never needed it or known someone who did, would fight against that.

What CJ said. I would also add someone with a god complex, who can't inagine needing it and someone who doesn't want to live in a society that believes that everyone is important and deserves a chance at life.

I had a chance to play the ST version and it rocks! I ll buy it for my mste as a xmas present.

I find it absolutely incredible that somebody from Greece has the balls to preach about morality of socialized medicine, after the cluster*uck Greece threw upon European Union (that we're still paying for now, and for decades to come). I guess I've really seen it all now :ponder:

But let's not bring politics into games...

For the record, I grew up in an actual socialist regime in the family of a doctor (with lots of first-hand unwanted (but ultimately unavoidable) experience). I've seen how people simply die while on the waiting list for MRI or chemotherapy, not to mention absolutely desperate people showing up at our doorstep, not knowing what to do, after they've been told that their spot in the waiting list should come up in 18 months. And about a thousand other instances that I overheard from next room.

Here in U.S., I've experienced myself, if I need MRI at 1 pm, I'll have one by 4pm. No waiting list, nothing. Show up, pay up, shut up. Done. If I want 3 independent opinions, I can have them usually within few weeks, even with specialist I never saw before. Good luck with that in socialist medicine ...

As far as Orion's intro goes, I would only disagree with one thing :

"but nobody had foreseen the progressive dictatorship that settled in"

Incorrect. Unfortunately, The Proletariat never listens to The Intelligence. History simply keeps repeating forever, regardless of the time period, language used or local deity worshipped.

The Mob won't listen to the voice of reason, they just want fresh blood. Also a first-hand experience from Nov'89 after Iron Curtain fell...

BTW, how long is Escape 2042 on a first play-through ?

I find your naivety about the Greek crisis and its causes quite charming to be honest. You are right about the waiting list though. It was about 3 days for a non emergency MRI that cost me 35 euros (and 250 more for the state or something close to that anyway).

As for the game, I just bought it, so I will let you know.

Complaining about "socialized medicine" is a bit farcical, as most complaints are generally focused on a particular implementation of it. You can't compare it from one country to another as all being the same. Regardless, though, this discussion has no place in this thread...oh wait, almost forgot I'm no longer a mod. :)

I didn't start the comparison but unlike most in this thread have directly experienced it both on the fully socialist and capitalist level across four decades.

Trust me - in America I hear this sh*t all the time, surprisingly, mostly from Americans.

I would suspect the anti-imperialist propaganda would be the only force interested in romanticising the socialist health care, but how on earth could that get any significant traction in u.s? I thought they were merely fringe...

Last time it was three weeks ago when my new dentist was asking some historical questions and she was horrified of my stories as I got a tooth extraction without anesthesia barely a decade ago and had few root canals done completely without anesthesia (and no, you don't have an option to pay for it, other than bribe).

She was equally appaled about X-ray of my jaw, so I had to explain that a tooth broke during one extraction, so the dentist took hammer and chisel, and spent two hours hammering the remnants out, which obviously shows as a deep trauma on X-Ray even after a decade.

Apparently, there were better techniques in 50's, but nobody told Russians, and they were the ones who dictated which textbooks to use in universities, since well - they showed up in tanks, which is a relatively strong argument :)

Like I said, it's funny to read the romanticized fantasies here, like it's a Hallmark Channel or something :)

Social healthcare crushed Greece's economy, it's evil, don't you know? :dunce:
