walter_J64bit
Is there a Light gun game for the ST? I've found a Light gun on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Light-Gun-Trojan-Phazer-fur-ATARI-520-1040-ST-STE-Z7G041-/222528114128?hash=item33cfb58dd0:g:P8wAAOSwcB5ZLCI-
leech
That's weird. I know there was a Light Gun for the 8-bit computers, but it was just a DB9 one that plugged right into the Joystick port. It was sold with the XEGS to compete with the NES and Duckhunt, but even there, I think there is only a handful of games that worked with it. Sadly light guns tend to not work with LCD screens, unless they are made differently than the original ones. I'm really curious about any Light Gun games for the ST though. edit: this thread talks about it too. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=13880 Edited August 28, 2017 by leech
Zogging Hell
There were about four games; three that came with the gun, a separate game by the same company and the only commercial game I know of which is Space Gun from Ocean. The gun works about as well as on the 8bit, although the ST's increased CPU power makes it slightly more bearable than say, the Speccy. Zogging Hell
Okay quick atarimania search brings up: Cyber Assault Orbital Destroyer Skeet Shoot The Enforcer Fire Star All by Trojan Space Gun By Ocean West Phaser Loriciel Slightly more than I remembered, although Space Gun is the only big hitter there. mattsoft
I have that same light gun but with a DB9 cable and use it on the Amiga (only a handful of games there too). I'm surprised this has a serial (??) cable?
krupkaj
ST has not support for light gun in the joystick port. Therefore the gun uses the pin from serial port which can handle interrupt. There is even small sample code how to read the gun within BASIC.
+rdemming
Back in the day I experimented a bit with connecting the Atari XEGS light-gun to the STE's enhanced controller port and it worked quite well. Of course the accuracy is not so good just as on the 8-bit. You need to build a DE-15 to 2xDE-9 adapter (an adapter to connect 2 Atari 8-bit joysticks to the enhanced controller port) to connect the XEGS light-gun to the STE. And you need to write your own software because AFAIK there are no games that can use a light-gun connected on the STE enhanced controller port. leech
Operation Wolf was the other game mentioned in the other thread. Anoyone know if this light gun works with LCD monitors though?
Zogging Hell
Wolf doesn't work on the ST with the light gun afaik, neither does Thunderbolt, which is a shame as they would have been just the games for it. Particularly Thunderbolt which has to make do with joystick control for the second player. I think Wolf predated this gun. Wolf does work with guns on the 8bit though. leech
Ah, I was getting that from the thread on atari-forum that I posted, someone mentioned Operation Wolf as working with a light gun.
tophe38
Hi, Loriciel West Phaser has the same socket, and plug into back serial port. This auction seems to be the same homemade light gun. Light gun are very similar (from 8bit ages), only socket/pinout show difference.
AtariLeaf
No mention of Crack'ed for the ST? It exists because I just bought a loose disk in the auction. Of course I was hoping it would work with the XE gun but it looks like it doesn't. Not a big deal, I mostly bought the lots for Battlezone and Moon Patrol. EDIT - I guess it's a mouse game on the ST. You'd think Crack'ed would be a light gun game by its very nature but it's a mouse game. To be a light gun game, you'd need a light gun with a secondary fire button on it like for launching grenades in the arcade version of Operation Wolf. The 7800 version also is for the ProLine Joystick because it requires 2 buttons. It's a real shame there wasn't an Atari 8-bit/XE Game System version of Crack'ed because it would kick serious butt to convert over to the 5200 and play it with the CX53 Trak-Ball Controller. Hell, the ST version would kick butt if the Enhanced Joystick Ports were hacked to work with it. And then with the upcoming Jaguar-to-5200 Adapter nearing release, it theoretically be possible to hook up the CX53 to an STe. Or, port the frakker over to the Jag and play it with the CX53. As for these ST light gun games, as others have asked, will they work on the ST's RGB monitor or do you have to have an 520STm, an STFM, or an STe to be able to connect a composite monitor or TV to play them with?

From memory I believe I played Space Gun at least on a Phillips monitor, which has the same internals as the Atari one. Any CRT should be fine I think.
