This is what happens with limited runs. Especially when the company or organization doing the runs did a &_$$! job of it.

What's a &_$$! job? That must be some new Internet lingo with which I'm unfamiliar. Is that an and underscore dollars dollars job? What is that?

Another World is awesome on the Jaguar... as professional as any other release I've seen.

But yeah, $799 is crazy... I can't imagine someone would pay that when you can get the same game off Steam for like $5 bucks or something.

I never played my copy. Paid £6 for a digital copy on the PS4, PS3 & PSV played it , hated it, sold my Jag copy to someone who actually wanted to play it!

I had an ILLEGAL copy of it when I was 13 years old back in the 1990s. Back then, I didn't have a job, and we all called bulletin board systems and downloaded games for free across a 2400 bps or 9600 bps connection using ProComm Plus or Telemate or Telix or whatever. So, I played it regularly on my PC back in those days.

When I saw it was being offered on the Jaguar... I HAD to snap it up.

For the longest time, I thought Flashback on the Jaguar might have been the sequel to the game because they seemed so similar in playability and theme (at least to me).

Another great game that's sort of in that style of play, is Prince of Persia... I played that FOREVER on the PC back in the day too...

What was it that made this game so expensive? Limited run? I remember seeing someone selling it for $999 on ebay, maybe that is the same person selling it for $799 now. I played it on another system, I think it was the SNES and thought it was meh. This is just a crazy price for a copy of that.

Until someone buys at $799 or $999 it's not "so expensive." Is it more than a copy of Doom? Yes. Why? Limited run and it's a good Jaguar game.

I guess it's not expensive until someone buys it at one of those prices. Thanks for answering on the Limited Run portion of the question. It was ok for the other systems, if its a good Jaguar game then that remains to be seen only by those who have played it or now can actually afford to buy it and then play it f they choose to crack it open. I'd probably still enjoy it if I had a copy, so likely it is a good Jaguar game, it was ok on the SNES when I played it tho.

Back in its time on the PC it was a great game. I enjoyed it back then so that's why I bought this version. I think there are less than 300 copies, I mentioned that somewhere else I think this week. Unlike some of the other pricey Jag homebrews, this is actually a game and is playable. As I begin to pare down my Jag collection this one will probably stick around.

I imagine so back in the day it was killer! I didn't realize this was a homebrew game, I was thinking it was a normal release, but I guess if only 300 copies were made that would make sense why they are so rare and expensive. I'd probably be down for a re-release copy if they ever did that and see how it plays on the Jag.

I saw this new thing recently (well it's new to me); VGA graded games. WTF is that then? So someone takes a sealed game, says 'yep, that's sealed, and as new, I rate this one 98 on the VGA scale of collectableness!', sticks it in a perspex box with a VGA sticker and adds £100 to the price tag. I've seen some comical stuff up for hundreds of pounds/dollars lately that are 'VGA rated' that are common games, but still sealed...

Here you go, loads of them: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=vga&_osacat=1249&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xvga+graded.TRS0&_nkw=vga+graded&_sacat=1249

Some highlights: Conker on the N64 £680, which I accept isn't exactly rare, but is weirdly high priced normally for some reason. So let's have some REALLY easy to get stuff: Resi Evil 3 on Playstation £449, how about Disgaea on the PS2 for £149. Or Mario Kart 64 for £499 BARGAIN! Something modern, Beyond Two Souls SE on the PS3, a pinch at £149. The world has gone mad.

Anyhow, the whole thing doesn't bother me. I'd like to buy a copy of Impulse X, but I can't and the last one I saw for sale went for $250, which I'm simply not prepared to pay. Nothing I can do about it. But I do have an Amiga and can play it (well Arkanoid and Impact) and Another World on that, so it's not like it really matters. The marvellousness of flash carts and CDRs has bagged me many a game to play on original hardware that's priced it's self into the stratosphere. It's not like the original makers of these games see any of the cash from this, so I feel no guilt there. Plus I do buy everything that I can when the prices don't take the piss.
