mr_me
My understanding is that the Mattel Intellivisions made in the United States in 1980, before manufacturing moved to Hong Kong, were made by GTE Sylvania. They are identical to most of the early Mattel Intellivisions made in the United States other than the labels. I also heard in one of the Intellivisionairies interviews that the very first Mattel Intellivisions in 1979 were manufactured by Magnavox. edit: You can compare your serial numbers to others here. http://intellivisionrevolution.com/serial-number-database-gte-sylvania Photos of your Intellivision and box are always welcome. The GTE Sylvania Intellivisions seem pretty rare. If I were to guess how many were made I might say 20k. +cmart604
Yah the Sylvania's are fairly hard to find boxed. Pics are always great.
+intvsteve
Yeah - the early units were manufactured by GTE Sylvania. What kind of info are you looking for? These are pretty cool units from a variant standpoint in that they're from the earliest production runs. The faceplate and box variants look nice, and the mentions of the original Keyboard Component really take you back to some fond memories.
BassGuitari
I've got a Sylvania. It was actually my first Intellivision. There isn't much difference from the standard Mattel Electronics consoles apart from the labeling (of course), and IMO the metal face panels look slightly more silver/gray than the Mattel's, which look a little more gold.My Sylvania's box was printed as saying it was packed with NFL Football, with a correction sticker advertising that the unit actually in fact included Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack. And the blurb about the Keyboard Component is a neat touch as well.

Gamersmanuel
Thank you guys for all the info,I was trying to post pictures for you guys, but it looks like I can't do it with a cell phone,it was pretty much an impulse buy since i dont collect for the system, but I just found it unusual.money is tight so if it is worth considerably more than what I paid ($50) maybe sell but i have never sold anything that i dont have a double of so that most likely won't happen.haha
Humblejack
Does the S/N on the box and the unit match? The S/N on the box is usually on the back panel near the center bottom. Does it have the owner manual? Just curious.
Gamersmanuel
Yes they do,includes the manual and a booklet, plus all the foam, plastic wrapping and a brown cover for it.
+cmart604
Well if it's in good shape with all the paperwork and a nice box, I'm sure you'd be able to at least double your money if you paid $50.

My box is in pretty rough shape, and I don't have the manual.
mr_intv
First thing I notice on the Sylvania box is the red sidelines in NFL football.......must be a concept drawing I presume.

mr_me
First thing I notice on the Sylvania box is the red sidelines in NFL football.......must be a concept drawing I presume.Probably a mock-up screen shot but NFL Football did have magenta sidelines at one time. Checkout this 1979 video at about the 3:30 mark. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ppYK29cHygQ [Looks like the scrolling isnt quite right in that version.] I wonder what the concept was for the Space Battle mock-up screen shot. Edit: Regarding ebay, could be me but a high price ususally discourages me from making an offer at all; not wanting to insult the seller. If the seller really wants only a high price, then he shouldn't have "make offer" as an option. Otherwise he opens himself up to low-ball offers, and your reasonable offer shouldn't be insulting. You can always add a note in the offer "not to be insulting, but this is a fair offer"

They also used the "Brown" edges on the Mattel version. This is the side panel of the Taiwan version.
+Lathe26
I think part of the reason for the reddish-brown in the NFL image is that originally one of the many shades of green was originally going to be brown.
Gamersmanuel
the reason i decided on that price is I want to keep it,but if someone offers something I can't pass up,being the financial situation im in,i would regrettably have to take the offer,i already have considerably large collections that I spend way too much money on.cant keep it all ??? boxpressed
The LV Poker and Blackjack probably comes with a full-color manual. I'd be sure to show that in a photo. Also the punch card warranty form is unique to the Sylvania. You can get $200-$250 for it, not $500.

boxpressed
No problem. First estimate was probably a little on the high side. Maybe $150-$200 range is more realistic, depending on condition of everything.
+JasonlikesINTV
A boxed Sylvania console sold in mid-July for about $230, but included a CIB Intellivoice among other things.
+-^CrossBow^-
I'm really kicking myself in the butt for not having picked up one of these that I think still had the box with it in decent shape that had a $19 BIN a few months back...ugh. I think the Sylvania model is the only major Intelly console variant I'm missing.
