Hi, the original mosfet for the Lynx I & II, Motorola, cod. MTD3055E and ALSO its replacement, ST, cod. STD12N06 are out of production

I found STD12NF06L mosfet. In production at the moment.

Does it fit for the purpose, in your opinion?

Here the datasheets:

MTD3055E: http://www.alldatash...A/MTD3055E.html

STD12N06: http://www.alldatash...S/STD12N06.html

Sounds ok to me. Get the one with suffix T4.

Towers lists SMD15N05 as a replacement if that is still in production as my copy of Towers is date 1994!

The NTD3055L104G NTD3055L104T4G appear to be direct replacements and still in production.

I talked with some electronic experts here in Italy. We compared the datasheets (for the Lynx expressly) and they told me that STD12NF06L is better than the original mosfet....

i've ordered a couple and I will try it...

Great =D  I've ordered some too.  Next we need to find a better replacement for the zenner!  I guess just uprating the current capability should do there.

I'm now using a 2SK2231 MOSFET.  Modern, more available, a LOT more efficient.. burns less power.

Best option is getting rid of the entire 9V to 5V section....

I wonder if there is some modern powerpacks that would fit in the Lynx cover?

USB power sockets are everywhere so you would just need a small cable to charge the powerpack.

Perhaps a powerpack with dual output would work (one for the Lynx, one for McWill screen). These powerpacks seem to deliver up to 2A per port.
