VectorGamer
This has happened many times before but I thought I'd finally bring it up... If you quote somebody's post and you want to remove text that isn't relevant by either deleting or backspacing the quote box gets all funked up. Is this a bug that's going to get fixed? If you don't know what I'm talking about I could probably post a screenshot.

carlsson
If you quote somebody's post and you want to remove text that isn't relevant by either deleting or backspacing the quote box gets all funked up. I kind of understand what you're describing, but I can't duplicate the behavior right now. I just used both delete and backspace at various parts of your quoted message above without it getting scrambled. If you're technically minded, you can always turn off the BB Code to edit the tags yourself to tidy up the message before posting. Personally I'm more annoyed about the fact that a message that contains a code block and text below, gets the text snipped off unless you turn off BB Code before posting. I've lost at least a half dozen partial messages by that. Hopefully the newer software has solved that bug, or whether it is a browser issue. +fdr4prez
I've seen this many times. Now I often turn off the BBCode and edit them, and then turn it back on to confirm it looks ok
+Random Terrain
I also switch to plain text mode to edit and to mess with quote boxes, then switch back to fancy mode. Albert said a while back that the new forum software (coming soon) won't let us switch to plain text mode, so that will be fun.

NE146
Yeah I've noticed this too.. the whole quoting system totally got messed up a lot of times if you try to modify anything in it. I chalked it up as bugs in the newer versions Al stood up, but hey.
+remowilliams
I frequently have to switch BB code off to manually fix lots of brokenness. If that's not going to be an option in the future, it's going to be ugly...
Albert
Yes, the quote box is funky, but you can manipulate text inside of it without the quote box going away. I've learned its quirks over time, you have to be somewhat explicit about the text you are removing for it to work properly. I do sometimes switch to text mode, especially if I need to break a quote into two or more quote boxes. The new forum software gets rid of bbcode and has a much better editor. They also removed the "Preview" option, claiming that the editor will show your post as it will appear once submitted. This isn't entirely true in a few cases, so I will be adding a third-party mod that gives you a nice Preview popup that properly renders the post. I have a version of the new software running on another server, but I won't have time to really dive into the conversion until January. I am eager to get the forum moved, though, as there are many nice improvements. ..Al
number6
Hi Albert, I'm still learning the site and I seem to have mistakenly created an additional "quote box": Bottom of posting Please forgive my ignorance, but how do I remove a "quote box"? Thank you again for everything, #

Thank you again for everything, #6 If you click on the title bar of a quote box (in your example, where it states, "Quote"), it should select the quote box. You can then hit the Backspace key on your keyboard to remove it. I'm not sure there's actually a way to do this on mobile devices. I will be performing a forum update soon to a significantly newer version, which will also have a newer version of the post editor. I'm hoping that fixes some of the oddball issues with the quote box. I've removed the spurious post box from the bottom of your post. ..Al
number6
You are the best. I'm sure to make the same mistake again, and being on desktop I shall use your solution at that time. Thank you again, #6
