Has anyone ever thought of flashing "custom" cartridges on-site? Like when you buy a game, there is a spot on the title/attract screen for your name or a personal message.

The game would have to have a spot of memory available, the name/message entered into the source, and compiled on-site. Like this. You walk up to the vendor, and they ask if you would like your name or a custom message flashed. If so, they enter it into the source right there, compile it, and flash it. $20 bucks extra! OR free..

There used to be a company that did that for birthdays: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/78004-birthday-mania-cartridge/

Posters to be included with Draconian and Super Cobra Arcade. As well as one of the 30 stations we're including with the first 30 people to buy Draconian.

That Draco poster is sweet. I may have to get some more 11x14 frames for the posters (yes I'm aware the posters are 10x14 but it works over black mattboard). Currently my Scramble poster is on top of my old Star Castle poster inside the frame... :P

As an option for those who want to send in a POKEY or Ballblazer.

..Al

Did you also say separate versions of Froggie could be made available with TIA or POKEY sound?

I'll likely be sending a loose Pokey chip your way for Froggie. Let me know when you want me to ship it to you so it won't delay my order when the games drop in November.

Yes, there will be options for TIA and POKEY versions.

Am I right in thinking that the POKEY is soldered to the 7800 board in the homebrews, and thus not something we could easily do (at least I wouldn't trust myself!), thus having to send you the POKEY to install in our copy?

There is a socket, the POKEY is not soldered in. However, this would also require labels to be applied by yourself.

Super Cobra Arcade? Wait what? Is there footage of this anywhere?

Very excited to see Super Cobra Arcade!

Is it me or did Super Cobra Arcade just appear out of no where? Either way YAHOO!

These really look great and yeah, what a kickass surprise - Super Cobra Arcade, out of left field!

I love Scramble on the 2600 and cant wait to play Super Cobra Arcade!

How does Super Cobra Arcade compare to Parker Bros Super Cobra?

Here's a look at Super Cobra Arcade. All of the arcade game's enemies, stages and terrain are present in the 2600 version. John did an amazing job with it. There's no real comparison between it and the Parker Bros. version. If you play the two of them back-to-back, they feel nothing alike. John's version is every bit as challenging as the arcade game. Fortunately, he included several difficulty settings: Novice, Standard, Advanced (which is closest to the arcade game), and in case there are any people out there who don't think Super Cobra is hard enough - Expert. :D John added some "extras" to the Expert level too, which will challenge any gamer. If you have an AtariVox or SaveKey, it will save your high scores (like Scramble).

Enjoy!

Is that running on a stock 2600, or does this use a harmony/Melody cart for some extra "grunt"? Looks amazing!

Super Cobra was one of the first games I got (as a gift), for my 5200. It was very smooth, and Parker did a decent job with the game. I didn't play the arcade game, so I didn't realize there was so much missing.

As I watched this video, I was really impressed with details that I assume are in the arcade, which I never saw: the meteors speed up, the tanks moved, and I saw a projectile that was in an arch formation. This even has a starfield in the background.

Although, I don't think this would have been possible back in the day, it is extremely impressive. Add-on chips or not, I never imagined the 2600 accomplishing something like this.

VERY NICE!

It kind of makes me wonder how "Arcade" the 5200/A8 could handle today, given the better development tools and lower cost of memory. Love to see those systems get some love too.

I imagine it would have some advantages over the 7800 (smooth scrolling, more raw processing for software sprites, and better sound), while the 7800 has some advantages (more colors and native sprite functionality) over the A8/5200. It's nice to see at least two of the Atari systems are getting pushed to their limits.
