AC port problem.

I have a lynx 2 with a dodgy power inlet(lucky i have spare consoles) but i think its a waste to kill a cat after one life.every time i move i lose power,is it easy to replace?also the ac adapters i have are made for the lynx but are after market ones and the plug metal sticks out about 4 mills,did the original one do this,as i think this contributes to my problem.
