Tempest
Did anyone see this? They're opening a new arcade/bar in the Greektown area called Ready Player One: https://articles.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2017/10/arcade_bar_to_open_friday_near.amp
MrMaddog
Uh oh, they might be hearing from a studio's legal department... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ready_Player_One_(film)
Tempest
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. They had to have permission. No one would have signed off on that otherwise.
Cynicaster
My mom actually told me about this place last weekend, saying "craft beer and video games... sounds right up your alley." How right she is. This is very cool for me because there is nowhere else to play a selection of retro arcade games that is closer than a 1-1.5 hour drive. I am in the US all the time for work so I'll definitely be stopping in at this place soon for a pint of Two Hearted and a game of DK. Tempest
Maybe we need to get an AA group meet up there?
Nebulon
Maybe we need to get an AA group meet up there? As long as people don't go overboard with the beer. If so, then we might be having the other kind of AA meeting. Going back to Ready Player One though, I'd definitely recommend the book to anyone on AtariAge. I think this group will appreciate the references.
+Darrin9999
I will have to check it out!
ubersaurus
Blows my mind how many arcades are in the Detroit area these days. This place, Marvin's is still going, the Arcade in Brighton is still going (and constantly changing up the lineup), Pinball Pete's in Ann Arbor has been refurbishing its games and getting some more cabs in, Round One just opened up in Great Lakes Crossing...
