The video itself is about one-sixth of the time it took me to actually finish it.

Some of the mistakes I made:

* Not having an Atari set up and plugged in to test with

* Not having anything to easily pry apart the old cart with

* Using a donor cart that had a dust cover to reassemble

* Putting the chip in backward the first time I swapped it

It was a huge learning process. I seem to remember doing all this stuff once years ago in a hotel room (PhillyClassic perhaps) for AtariAge but none of it was fresh in my mind, plus I think Al had done us the favor of cleaning all the labels off the donor carts in advance. I'm still glad I did it again though. Thanks Mr. Atari!

Nice video, thanks.

Yeah, I know, the first one is always the hardest.

I have done several for friends by now, getting easier all the time.

Removing the sticker with a hot-air gun (saw that on youtube somewhere) is a quick and clean way.

No neat for solvents or cleaning-agents to remove glue residue.

But be careful not to overheat the plastic, since is will deform very quickly.....

Perhaps a hair-dryer works too, not sure if it's hot enough though.

I always take cartridges with the dust cover, because the ones without, have 2 large holes, looks very ugly when your label gets in there....

Anyhow, enjoy the game.

:-)

Sijmen.

I find this method of distributing a game very interesting. Thanks for sharing the video.

My pleasure! I'd love to do this again sometime, now that I actually know how to do it. It's definitely a unique and fun way to share a homebrew. :)

Completely of topic, but I released my second game for 2600/VCS this month.

Just download and try, most find it a very playable and funny game.

"Give me my Pancake !"

Based on a 80's game&watch and the theme of our gaming weekend last month.

http://www.mr-atari.com/pancake/

Want to break the high score?

Set the game to difficult BA (the guy from the A-team) and beat 212, set by Mark Güttenbrunner (Austria)

My high score doesn't come close, "only" 121.....

Enjoy, Sijmen

Finally got around to assembling my cart.  Thanks again providing the PCBs, labels etc.  Can't wait to receive my copy of Give Me My Pancake!

Okay, I'm starting to get the hang of this on BB setting.  Once I break 200, I'll switch to BA. :)

You already got it?

Man, that is fast, I shipped it the 8th.....

Ah, wait, this is the digital copy you got from me. (right?)

Nice score!

Right difficulty set to A:

-Speedup will be twice as fast.

-No speed reduction when you drop one.

-Sequence continues.

A real challenge, since the sequence I made has some look-a-likes.

Dropping a pancake will shock-effect you...

:-)

You are correct, this is my digital copy. Can't wait for the actual PCB to arrive.  Assembling the cartridge is fun.
