TheMontezuma
I have installed a Raspberry Pi in the 65XE case and it is a pretty nice setup running the "Emulation Station" software . However it would be really nice to load games from a real floppy drive connected to Raspberry Pi via 1050-2-PC cable
foft
Atari++ does via Hias' atarisio kernel module iirc http://www.horus.com/~hias/atari/#atarisio 'As a bonus, the emulation also includes Matthias Reichls atarisio interface, allowing you to connect a real 1050 or 810 drive to the emulating PC by means of a 1050-to-PC or ProSystem cable.' doctorclu
Supposedly the Atari emulator on the Atari emulator on the Dreamcast did. Never got to try it as it required an expensive cable at the time.

The problem with atarisio is that it is not available on Raspberry Pi. I talked to Hias and he said that the UART in Broadcom SOC triggers an interrupt when at least 2 bytes are in the input buffer which makes it useless for atarisio... foft
How about using an ftdi USB serial adaptor then the 1050-2-pc?
TheMontezuma
How about using an ftdi USB serial adaptor then the 1050-2-pc? That's exactly the idea, but atarisio is a linux kernel driver for a hardware UART and it does not support FTDI USB serial adapters. I'm looking for an emulator which could talk via serial port to a real floppy (but not using atarisio). If there is no "off the shelf" product - it should be fairly easy to add it to the atari800 emulator (at least with 19200). Perhaps one day I will find time to do that Edited October 30, 2017 by TheMontezuma
Luigi301
I wrote a program that communicates with my Atari by pretending to be an SIO device and sending data out the COM port at 19200bps - I'm sure the reverse (fooling the drive into thinking you're an Atari) wouldn't be hard at all. SIO is a very simple protocol.
Marius
I am pretty sure I connected a 1050 to my Atari ST with XFormer. But perhaps this was only to transfer disks from the real 1050 to the XFD image.

Yep!
